Eutechnyx has released some more information regarding free to play PC racer, Auto Club Revolution. To start with the game will support a number of control schemes, including keyboard, mouse, gamepad and steering wheel. From there you will then have a choice of manual, automatic or-semi automatic gear changes.
In terms of telemetry, you’ll be getting an in-race Heads-Up Display (HUD) that features elements such as position indicator, lap time plus total race time, proximity of the car in front and behind and a race mini-map. Both slip streaming and drifting are fully supported, as are controller/wheel vibration and force feedback.
There is also an emphasis on social features, and the racing app will offer key-binding of messages and optional in-game chat to talk to other players both in the race and in the Race Hangout.
Multiplayer races begin in the Race Hangout, where players meet to find and create lobbies. Races will initially support between two and eight players and opponents can be found by either inviting friends or from other players in the Race Hangout, or through automated Match-Making. Race hosts can invite friends and other players in the Race Hangout to a lobby for complete control of who, when and how they want to race while Match Making finds evenly matched, suitable races automatically.
In terms of a single player experience, Time Trial mode allows players to set personal best lap times and post them to their profile as well as to public leaderboards. Leaderboards can be viewed locally, nationally or globally as well as within your network of friends.
Single player mode is extended through an array of personal challenges that are generated for every player and designed to assist them in the discovery of game features and to provide a variety of in-game content. Types of challenge include; daily, friend, car, series pin, Auto Club, and include challenges which are completed both while racing or on the website.
For those worried about cheating cheater-pants, the game will have penalties and warnings for cutting corners, leaving the track, driving backwards and being overly aggressive.
Beta testing will begin this month, and if you didn’t manage to sign up then don’t worry, TSA will be teaming up with Eutechnyx to bring you some beta keys soon.

I am quite interested in this. I liked TDU on PC but found TDU2 a letdown.

This sounds pretty good. I’m not usually into PC games, but the Steam sale plus rediscovering Age of Empires 2 has got me playing on my laptop more than my PS3 at the moment. Hopefully I’ll get a beta key, if not then I’ll definitely download any demo that is released.
