OPM Claim Timesplitters 4 Announcement Soon

If you take any stock in the rumour sections of print magazines, rejoice in the rather authoritative news that, apparently an announcement for Timesplitters 4 is due soon.

[drop2]That’s according to the Official PlayStation Magazine, which states that “gun-wielding monkeys are finally making a comeback” and that “a fourth Timesplitters title is to be announced soon” in its latest issue.

Crytek do have a UK division which would be most suited to such a project, although it’s unlikely to fall under this rumour, which stated that Crytek’s next would be a ‘new’ IP. Not that the devs aren’t aware of the game, of course.

And, it’s worth mentioning that the last time anyone really mentioned Timesplitters 4 it was being pitched at next gen, at least in terms of an Xbox version, which was rumoured to be shown privately at E3 this year…

Chances are this is just the magazine taking a punt, although we’d love to be proved wrong. A level editor on current consoles could be amazing.

  1. And the Announcement will say –

“We are bringing back TimeSplitters, game modes include online deathwatch, online…etc etc but sorry no 4 player off-line split-screen mode with bots…”

    Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz :-/

i LOVE Timesplitters, number 2 was my most played game on my PS2 :P

    • I meant Deathmatch not Deathwatch :D

      • I’d love to see a deathwatch mode! haha a silly human is heading to my Egyptian trap that turns him into a goose!! (think Arthur and Ghosts & Goblins.

        lol….

    • Yup, that’d completely kill it. Not sure if they’d be quite that oblivious though

  3. If it’s true i hope it turns out more like TS2 than TS3.

  4. Well if it ever become a reality (of time) I hope it doesn’t become another Bulletstorm or Brink.

    • Why, what’s wrong with Bulletstorm & Brink? They are actually both great games.

  5. It amazes me that surely the people replying to this article at least experienced timesplittersand therefore must be more than 20 years old, yet the replies are like those of a 6 year old. Surely 6 year olds never experienced timesplitters. “please let this be true, god, Christ let it be true, I really really want this so badly”… As if there aren’t enough games to play.

  6. Many happy hours spent on t.splitters, an awsome game on the ps2. Let’s hope if it is true, they stick closely to it’s winning formula. No nightmares like socom for example, thank you very much.

    • Or was that ps1? I can’t remember which t.splitters had me engrossed for that matter, but it was wicked which ever one.

  7. “A level editor on current consoles could be amazing.” There is one. Called FAR CRY 2. go try it, ITS GREAT

    • Editor on farcry2 console was fun & rewarding. A good introduction into that field. It was cool & kind of sureal, playing with your mates on maps you had all created.

  8. If this turns out to be Vita only I may just burst a bollock…

  9. Genuinely can’t wait if this is indeed true, I used to play four player Splitters 2 for half an hour at my mate’s before each school day… we were clearly being productive.
