WeView: DiRT 3

Well hopefully some of you will be getting down and dirty this week in our DiRT 3 Tournament, so I thought I’d take advantage of that and see what you had to say about the game. I mean we’ve covered arcade racers and Gran Turismo 5, so it’s only fair that rallying gets a chance to shine.

Of course DiRT 3 has gone beyond just rallying now, with the addition of Gymkhana spicing things up a little. It was something we were pretty positive about in our review of the game, although it wasn’t the only the aspect that impressed us. In fact scoring an 8/10 it’s safe to see we were pretty pleased with the game overall, having this to say about it:

There’s a lot to like about DiRT 3 – it controls superbly (twitchy and direct but without losing the sense that there’s some serious physics going on) and, once you dial down the assists, actually offers a surprisingly deep, technical ride.

It never pretends to be a sim, though – tuning is basic and the cars come as they are – but it’s certainly not using cheap arcade mechanics either, instead somewhere in-between the two as the series always has. DiRT 2 fans will dig this the most, but the new Gymkhana mode will attract a whole new audience too.

So we enjoyed Codemasters newest outing but how about you? Did you love it or hate it? Well if you’ve got something to say about it just head over to the forums and leave us your thoughts on the game. Whilst I’m not going to discount longer reviews, please remember that the aim is for short, snappy opinions. More than that I simply don’t have the time to wade through longer reviews, so if you want to have your opinion included in the verdict post try to keep it short.

Once you’ve written your review make sure you give it a score on the Buy ItBargain Bin ItRent ItAvoid It scale. Remember, if you want your score and opinion included in Monday’s verdict post you need to have it done by Sunday afternoon, otherwise I’ll have written it and you’ll be left out in the cold.

  1. Only got this Friday so haven’t played enough to give it a fully fledged review but may write one if i get time.

  2. I wan’t dirt, but I can’t really spend money on it, as I normally end up not playing racing games if I buy them.

  3. never been too sure about dirt….opinions been changed a bit now, cheers!

  4. I brought this on launch & its just been gathering dust pretty much ever since.. I was expecting a pure rally game. Dont like the gymkhana stuff hate the loading times and short stages, lack of car settings/options. way to much DLC content which could of been added to the game from day one. codies are just trying to make as much cash as they can from fans.. I would really like to see a top rally game to come out soon for driving sim fans… RENT IT

  5. 7/10 for me
