The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Dated

Skyward Sword now has a release date. We have known for some time that it was coming out near the end of the year, but Nintendo have now confirmed both the exact European and North American release dates during Gamescom.

The game – the first dedicated Zelda on Wii, taking full advantage of the Wii Motion Plus controls – will launch in Europe on the 18th and in North America on the 20th of November, that’s not too long to wait, then.

Skyward Sword sees Link in a land above Hyrule – Skyloft: a cluster of islands floating in the sky. Detailing the legend of the Skyward Sword and the creation of the series’ iconic Master Sword, it looks to add more backstory to the Zelda mythos, due to it being set before the events of Ocarina of Time. Link will have many new items, upgrades and other various equipment to aid him on his quest down to the land of Hyrule to save Zelda.

We can’t wait, can you?

  1. It’s weird how the first Wii exclusive Zelda comes out at the end of it’s life-cycle. You’d think Nintendo would use the brand to help push more Wii’s (if that’s even possible) alot earlier.

    • Yeah, they got stuck with developing Twilight Princess too late and it’ll be hard to recover.

  2. This is going to be the first Wii game I have bought in years, and I can’t wait!

  3. This news makes me happy!

  4. That’s Christmas a month early for me then… I really don’t remember the last Wii game I bought…
Actually, the only thing that’s been played on it recently are Wii fit plus(to weigh my cat) and the gamecube Ocarina of time disc (when my son demanded his turn on the 3DS version)…

  5. Sort for the double-post! Don’t see how it happened- blame the browser on my Galaxy S…

    Fixed.

  6. Dammit, I’ll need the Wii Motion Plus controller won’t I? I don’t have one and didn’t want one for a reason, ughh.

Well I am looking forward to getting this, but it comes out at a time that I’ll be far too busy with the other releases to fully enjoy it. :(

  7. Haha, no.
