Street Fighter X Tekken FightStick Shipping This September

Mad Catz has officially announced its latest FightStick for the PS3 and Xbox 360. The Street Fighter X Tekken Arcade FightStick Pro, which is obviously based on Capcom’s upcoming fighting game, is expected to ship this September.

I had a brief hands on with the prototype model of the SFxT FightStick at E3. Although it uses the same authentic Sanwa parts just like the Tournament Edition FightSticks for Street Fighter IV, there are some differences. The most notable change is the shape. There’s more of an angle now for your wrist. The control switches have also been moved from the upper left side of the stick to the upper right.

It’s worth noting that the PS3 version is officially licensed by Sony. The only other FightStick with that license is the limited edition Chun-Li Tournament Edition “S” model. You can tell the difference because it actually a PS logo on the PlayStation button instead of a generic house.

The Street Fighter X Tekken Arcade FightStick Pro is now available for pre-order for $159.99. Only 1000 sticks were made for both consoles combined, so it’s very limited in quantity.

  1. Looks pretty nice, though $159.99? Yes, only a thousand made, but they probably cost $20 at most to make, a further few dollars shipping and costs and they should be in shops for $39.99, which is still expensive, but at least isn’t offensive. In my opinion they should mass produce, ditch the limited edition label and sell more, the lower profits but higher sales numbers might even out? Or am I just being stupid?

    • Not exactly. It’s totally possible to build your own arcade stick since parts are available at places like focusattack.com and paradisearcadeshop.com. You’ll find that it still will cost you a bit of money in the end.

You can check out this website here that shows you the process of creating your own stick. He admits that it will cost you anywhere between $130-200 depending on the materials you already have.

      • Yes, but remember that when factory made everything is bought in bulk so it costs pence. I agree that if one made it themselves then it would cost a lot, but mass production is the cheapest form of production. Granted, it might be a bit more than I suggested, but not by much..

  2. I read SfxT coming in Sept and got excited until I realize it was about the fight stick :(

  3. Can someone explain the name street fighter x tekken to me? I don’t get it, is it pronounced ex? Or is it meant to be loves? Either way its stupid! Wouldn’t street fighter v tekken be better?

    • It’s Street Fighter Cross Tekken. It’s a cross over. They didn’t use the Vs name because it’s not a part of that series and has different gameplay mechanics.

  4. I would love to afford to spend that amount on an arcade stick but had to settle for the SF4 fightpad. Does the job though, especially in MK

  5. So it is just me that finds sticks awkward to use with fighting games then?

Much rather use a pad as i just can’t get the inputs right on a stick. You’d think it would be easier, but i guess i am just ‘special’! :S
