Record Attendance for Eurogamer Expo

Eurogamer Expo 2011 saw a record attendance of 34,500.

The event, which took place from the 22nd to 25th September, allowed gamers to access the likes of Skyrim, Rage, Batman Arkham City, Uncharted 3 and Forza, as well as attend various developer sessions, including BioWare’s session where the release date for Star Wars: The Old Republic was announced.

Eurogamer Co-Founder Rupert Loman said:

“This year’s Eurogamer Expo was a massive success. The response we’ve had from the gaming community and the games industry has been incredibly positive. We’re looking forward to sharing more details on the 2012 show soon.”

This year’s event also saw the launch of OnLive in the UK, which was celebrated with OnLive giving away free consoles. Trion Worlds were also giving away free copies of Rift.

Eurogamer Expo will return next year and run from September 27th to September 30th.

  1. I went on Saturday and it was definately a great day. Was gutted I didn’t get to try MW3, Batman or Skyrim but the queues were too long to make it worthwhile. My 6month old nephew got a signed Uncharted 3 notebook from Nolan North however, which was insanely awesome :D

    • I’d be nabbing that notebook for myself.

      • Lol, I know right? His middle name is Drake (yes, named after Nathan Drake) so it has “Wear the name with pride! Nolan North” written on the front page. Its seriously cool. I think his mother is going to put it away until he’s older so it doesn’t get ruined.

      • thats the nuts, nice one

  2. From what I’ve heard it was a bit too successful, meaning too many attendees made it difficult to enjoy what was on show :(

    • …just like Spearmint Rhino on a Saturday night. ;-)

    • There was an element of that as due to coming out of the Batman dev talk a little late, we missed getting in the queue for the Uncharted one which was a bit disappointing, but i can’t say i had any issues getting to play the games i wanted to play.

Missed out a few, but only where i really want interested or wanted to avoid spoilers of any kind.

      • *wasn’t not want (not sure what’s going on with me today!)

    • Far to many people, I gave up after about an hour.

  3. It was a great event, but one thing I kinda wish they’d fix is that the fighting game section isn’t really monitored by staff so the fighting game community tends to take over and that meant it was hard to give those games a go.

Obviously didn’t help that there was only like one screen for most of those games, but still…

    • Maybe you should fight for a place? (and I don’t mean virtually)

      • Haha, yes. Next year I’ll bring some boxing gloves.

    • I actually agree – It is a fight just to get anywhere near the screen & it shouldn’t be that way at an expo.

  4. It was a good day, but I thought it was too busy. They said they wanted queues to be 15-20 mins, but they weren’t like that at all. And they ran out of Onlive consoles. sadface.
