Journey Gets Release Window of Spring 2012

Jenova Chen, Creative Director of thatgamecompany has announced that Journey will be hitting the PSN in spring 2012. It also seems like the beta went well:

“Fortunately, the online beta went very well, and our continued playtests have given us great feedback on the work we have left to complete. While there is still a ton of care and polish needed, we can’t wait to finally deliver Journey, TGC’s take on an online adventure game.”

It’s going to be a long wait, but oh so worth it.

  1. Way longer wait than I was expecting, but I guess you can rush neither quality nor originality. I will be patient. Glad I didn’t play the beta though, the wait must seem torture to those poor souls…

  2. Jeez, thought it was out in the next few weeks. Oh well means I can spend that PSN credit on something else now.

  3. So we’re looking at a May 2012 release at the earliest. The game will then have been three years in the making, but it’s completable in less than 5 hours. Quite disappointing, though I’m still looking for it.

    • Thinking about it I have lost a little bit of faith in the game now.

      • Why? Surely a longer development time + more time to work on issues raised by the beta = higher chance of a quality product?

      • By that thinking, Duke Nukem should’ve been flawless ;)

      • They restarted Duke 4 times. The game that was released was NOT in development for a bazillion years.

      • Yeah, I know, I’m just still sore that it was such a disappointment.

  4. Well for once a developer seem to have intelligently released their beta version in plenty of time to make any highlighted changes before release. Unlike bf3 which has a week or 2 between beta and release.

  5. Awww, I guess I’ll just get another PSN game instead this year, maybe… Rayman.

    • Wow, I made the rookie mistake of thinking Rayman was a PSN title. Oops.

      • As good as it looks, I personally think it would sell better if it was a PSN title. I know my wife lost all interest in it when she heard it was going to be a full price game

  6. Can hardly wait….

  7. Aww no :( *unpacks suitcase*

  8. Wasn’t expecting that launch window, thought it would be here before Christmas, but if it gives them more time to polish it up for us im all for the wait, something Techland and Deep Silver should of considered for Dead Island!

  9. I see your point Tony and did think the same but my interest has been peaked and to wait another 6 months and anything other than a spell binding trailer will make me click on a link.
