We’ve just spoken to Sony and can confirm that European PS3 owners can also look forward to PS2 games coming to their console – exciting news for anyone doubting the validity of our earlier post this morning.
“The Only On PlayStation Network programme is for the SCEA region only,” said a SCEE spokesperson to TheSixthAxis.
“However, we will be bringing the majority of the content to the SCEE audience, including Classic PS2 titles.” Â Note the capital letter, which might suggest that’s the official line.
It sounds like it doesn’t end there, either.
“We have numerous exciting offers that we will be introducing to PSN users throughout our region in the lead up to Christmas and look forward to sharing these with you.”
Exciting stuff, if Sony can get the right PS2 titles out there for us…

Delighted.
I’d love some Battlefront or Burnout, but as there are so many great games in the PS2’s library (best library ever) I’m pretty sure I’ll be happy with most of the classics.
As always when I hear about something like this, would Vita be able to play them too?

Oh, and split-screen Battlefront. Plus, don’t those two games have online modes?

Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many Classic PS2 games i want on PSN(or i would rather have PS2 playback back on a PS3, man i have said that 10 billion times on the internet) :D It would be easier sticking the PS2 chip back in a PS3 than taking years to get a few PS2 games on PSN(just look how long PS1 games have taken & we still haven’t got some of the big classics form the PS1 days on PSN yet) :-/
+ I want TIMESPLITTERS! ! !(all 3 games in HD) :P

You know what this could mean ! In PLUS, They might stop giving us PS1 classics EVERYMONTH, but, some of the months they give us PS2 Classcis instead !
I would love a bundle of all 4 ratchet and clank PS2 games put together and discounted on plus… I can dream…

It’s surprising how well the Crash Bandicoot games hold up. Perhaps even more so than the original MGS. But that’s probably just me, I know there are a lot of people who would disagree!

PS2 Classics are a great idea, however i cant help feel that they have improved the software emulation for the ps2 games. but are deciding to milk it on digital games rather than update our consoles with the ability to play our origonal PS2 discs.
whilst if its a game im after i will buy the content anyway i cant help but feel that they should also offer the software emulation on the discs again.
