GT5 2.0 Update Detailed

The EU Blog has updated with news on what’s going to be in the next major update for Gran Turismo 5.

[drop2]”Firstly all ‘standard’ cars will now feature an interior view,” says the blog, with the caveat being that “the level of detail will vary from car to car.”  Big change, though. “For the first time you will be able to literally get behind the wheel of all the cars in the game.”

Other changes include Photo Travel Mode updates, shorter load times, a snappier menu (and better UI), improved physics and AI, support for the G25/G27 wheels and new online features.

You’ll also be able to save your progress during endurance races and come back later.

The update is available on the 11th of October – the same day as Microsoft’s Forza 4 – free of charge.  New vehicles and tracks are expected to arrive shortly after as (presumably paid for) DLC.

  1. thank god for the endurance race saves!!! been putting off going back to this uz of that reason

    • cuz*

      • Still no such word.

      • Haha

      • A lack of punctuation, use of capital letters and missed words, then you think you need to correct a missing letter from a word which is not in the dictionary. Hmm.

      • Whoah guys there’s no need to go all grammar Nazi on his ass. Clearly he just intended to get his point across, therefore it seemed logical to correct the “uz” so it at least made sense. I missed the part in the T&C’s about having to have perfect written communication to avoid being patronized and slated without any kind of underlying humour. Completely unnecessary.

      • I think tony was just messing.

      • All gentle cajoling aside it’s worth making the effort. I know of a few people who find themselves skipping over things formatted badly. I, for one, catch myself not reading hazelam’s replies and I actually want to. I just feel my eyes slipping quickly across the text again and again which then takes effort to slow myself down and re-read things. No offence intended towards hazelam at all.

      • Myps3broke, we’re in England here so we say patroniSed not patroniZed!

      • On a serious note though, I’m a teacher and I spend a hell of a lot of time reading the writing of 16-19 year olds. It makes me very sad to say that text speak has crossed over into the realms of academic writing. I suppose as much as I hate it I have to accept that language evolves, I can’t stop it from happening so that’s that. I just think its a representation of how lazy the kids are these days, they can’t even be arsed to write properly.

      • It’s hardly a lack of punctuation when there are three exclamation marks!!!

      • I’ve made a load of typos and that usually due to my fast fingers and my extra extra sensitive touchpad being an ahole. I think Tony would have a heart attack if he looked at the comments on YouTube. ;)

It could have been worse, it could have been a TSA GC reg, oh right. Err. *jumps out the window* :p

      • I can tell you something, Tony (meant nicely). In the business world, if an interviewer read any text speak in a covering letter, email, CV, they’d be dismissed instantly. A time and a place, I guess.

Thankfully, TSA is usually packed with half-decent English so we can be genuinely thankful for that.

      • So, guys, GT5 patch huh?

      • Wow correcting people’s spelling and grammar over the internet -__-

      • Surely Tony you wouldn’t wanna bring your work home onto the internet of correcting spelling?

Yes though your right kids are lazy these days, I’m sure the quality of the articles on this site from the “kids” proves that.

        :o)

      • it’s not its

Im not lazy with my spelling though (god bless iPad spelling correction)

      • (before anyone moan when I said about quality of articles, I ment that they are if a good quality)

      • It’s not about spelling, I can handle spelling mistakes, as its a mistake and these things happen, especially with autocorrect changing what you’re trying to write. I just dislike replacement of proper words with ones that don’t actually exist. If you want to text your mate like that, well that’s one thing, but surely the internet is the worst place to use text speak, the whole world can see it.

Obviously the articles on here are not written by lazy people, hence the good use of English. You can’t deny though that the standard of written English is deteriorating among a large portion of the younger generation. Anyway, enough of this. Tsa is generally free from badly written crap and arguments and I’d like to keep it that way.

      • I feel i should make up for some of my mistakes so without further ado here’s a comma and an apostrophe which i omitted in one or other of my comments in the past.
        ,

Nice update for GT5 too btw :)

      • Okay dude; it was just a bit heavy slating him for no fair reason. If you want to spend your time worrying about other people’s choice of words then that’s entirely your decision :) Incorrect literature doesn’t tend to stop me sleeping though :P

      • @myps3broke

You obviously have no idea what the word “nazi” means. Thankfully, maybe.

      • Good thing I said “grammar Nazi” then instead of “nazi” wasn’t it then. Urban definition here: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Grammar%20Nazi
Do your research before making idiotic comments.

    • Except same. I’ve only completed a few of the early endurance races because there was no mid-race save. Hurray for this feature!

    • yehz I Likz the Lukz of dis ptch!

plz DoNt tryzz currecTz mi Spelin on the internetz.

      fanks.

      ;p)

    • The Internet is the worst place for txt speak?

      lulz!

anyways spelling lesson done :o) back on topic……

  2. Now this should make me come back to GT5 :D

  3. All good things. I don’t use interior view much but I always like to try it the first time in a new car so it’s still cool. Menus definitely needed some work and saving during endurance races means I might finally do them!
Interested to see how the AI improves as well. Good work Polyphony

  4. fantastic. mid race saves means i can put off buying forza4 and wait till the price drops.

  5. Excellent news, just in time for the long winter nights and a great reason to make me pick this up and get back into it. Looking forward to the DLC news, although it will inevitably be expensive, here’s hoping a PlayStation Plus account gets a discount!

I also hope that people don’t winge a moan about the interior views, there are bound to be some dodgy ones in there!

  6. Addressing pretty much all the issues? I’m interested. Cockpit view of all cars is great, guessing the opponent AI will still be oblivious, predictable and stupid though they say it’s ‘improved’, the menu needs to be destroyed and reconstructed, and the game needed to just be a bit more fun for me. If i could get this really cheap I might give it a try, as I sold my copy for lack of fun, shame, as the driving and graphics were amazing.

  7. After the disappointment of F1 2011, I’m looking forward to sinking more time into this

    • spikey, you well get used to F1, just needs a little time :)

      • i hope so. really want a patch asap

      • same here, was disappointed, I only use the cockpit view so this on every car is great.

  8. Tempting to buy this now!

  9. Really late, but I suppose better than never! I’ll definitely be returning to GT for a while to see how things have changed in my absence.

  10. Great about the in-car views – I hated not having my beloved 106 GTi in-car view. This would have changed my WeView verdict perhaps.

    • Still a shame you can’t put all the racing decals on any car, like you used to be able too. :(

    • same here, I haven’t raced many of the standard cars as I use the in-car view.
