GT5 2.0 Update Detailed

The EU Blog has updated with news on what’s going to be in the next major update for Gran Turismo 5.

[drop2]”Firstly all ‘standard’ cars will now feature an interior view,” says the blog, with the caveat being that “the level of detail will vary from car to car.”  Big change, though. “For the first time you will be able to literally get behind the wheel of all the cars in the game.”

Other changes include Photo Travel Mode updates, shorter load times, a snappier menu (and better UI), improved physics and AI, support for the G25/G27 wheels and new online features.

You’ll also be able to save your progress during endurance races and come back later.

The update is available on the 11th of October – the same day as Microsoft’s Forza 4 – free of charge.  New vehicles and tracks are expected to arrive shortly after as (presumably paid for) DLC.

  1. GT5 is getting better & better each time:P Cool;)

  2. This is AMAZING NEWS! {GT-asm}

  3. Bravo. Long live the king.

  4. Good to see they are finally implementing interior views to all the cars. Will definitely give the game another go now. Well, at least until my copy of Forza 4 drops through the letter box ;)

  5. There are at least 12 new cars in spec 2 not including the DLC. As well as that the images on the blog show three new race modified cars so whether they are DLC or a new feature of spec 2 we have to wait and see

    • Sorry for double comment, nee physics, AI and the upcoming track packs as well as the new online features are the best part.

      • And thirdly, a more complete list

Simplified interior views added to all standard cars.
User control of the weather change feature.
Settings sheet which allows you to save multiple car settings.
        New Spec 2.0 opening movie.
        Improved UI response and usability.
        Replay forward/rewind.
Mid-race save feature for endurance races.
Expanded online lounge features (narrowing down car types, shuffle races…).
Expanded Photo Travel features (you can now take photos of cars together with your avatar).
Added “NASCAR Pit Scene” stage to Photo Travel.
Added 11 new 2011 NASCAR models.
Added the Nissan GT-R N24 Schulze Motorsport (the car in which Kazunori contested the 2011 Nurburgring 24 Hours).
        Improved physics and artificial intelligence.
Support for the Logitech G25/G27 steering wheel.

      • Simplified interior views? As in the type you get in GT for the PSP?

      • Some are like that some not. There are pictures on the PlayStation blog.

      • Ahh, ok. Bit disappointing, but something is better than nothing I guess.

      • I guess so, though on one hand, for wheel users it takes away the annoyance of having two sets of arms and wheel in front of you!

      • True. Actually more realistic in some ways then :P

  6. It also brings with it a handful of 2011 Nascars and the GTR Kaz used in a 24h race round the ‘ring. And the new photo-location is some Nascar-related place. And you can take pictures with your avatar in them. And apparently it comes with a new intro-sequence.

    • Double Post: It also allows you to customize the weather.

  7. Hmm, my interest in Gran Turismo 5 has gone up a bit. But i think i will not be getting it any time soon. The update is adding a lot of good stuff. The option to save in an Endurance race should have been included at launch as it can get boring after a while.

  8. Great patch! Nice to see the support is still strong.

  9. Finally, now i can finish off the last few endurance races.
Can’t wait to see what is included in the DLC.

  10. Once I clock resistance im all over GT5
