Next Xbox/PS4 Set for E3 Reveal

E3 2012 was always going to be interesting, what with Wii U details as well as what Sony has planned for the Vita.

However, according to a report by MCV, things are about to be taken up a notch with the unveiling of both the PS4 and a new Xbox.

Editor of MCVuk, Ben Parfitt, has said that although he cannot reveal their source for this information:

“You have my personal word on this – the source is exemplary, 100% concrete, ultra high level.”

A three-way new console battle at E3? Yes please!

  1. Not even sure I’d be excited, just been gaming on the PC lately *yawn* PS4 or even the Xbox 3 will need to something really amazing to get me interested.

    • Monster Hunter vs Dynasty Warriors? ;)

  2. I’d like:
    – Improved Visuals
    – Faster loading times for games/using the xmb
    – Faster Blu-ray access
    – better wi-fi connection to improve connectivity reliability/speed
    – Much Much Much better file structure for music/photos/videos and more user friendly

Just a few on top of my head – but yes I think the PS4 is required sooner than later. It certainly has a lot of limitations that wouldn’t take much effort to improve.

  3. I really hope it isn’t true. I’m not interested for at least another couple of years. The ps3 still costs nearly £200 at the moment.

  4. I don’t mind them announcing it, plenty of time for people to hop on board the hype trains! Just don’t sell it until the back end of 2013 please

    • Exactly. It won’t be sold for ages, so no harm in my opinion in announcing it.

  5. I was lucky enough to have the cash to splash on a launch PS3, I doubt I’ll be doing that again for whatever they announce. Same as a lot of you, I’m also very happy with my PS3, I think it’ll last a while yet.

  6. I look forward to both, however it is vital in my mind that both are backwards compatible 100% with the current generation. I can’t see the adoption rate being quick unless they do this

    • Pshhh, no. I would not mind at all if there wasn’t any backwards-compatability. It keeps the costs down, keep your old machine, and overall the newer games are just going to be better….keep those fond memories of previous games.

  7. Yes please with a launch 2013. Really want it soon as the ps3 will be 6 years this year which it was between ps2 and ps3.

  8. Backwards compatibility is a must. A late 2013/early 2014 release for either console would be fine by me.

  9. best get saving and with the intentions of buying a 3ds and vita in the next month my social life is gonna go to shit!

  10. 2013 is a maybe but then again I did get my PS3 a year after it launched here, so maybe 2014 if that is the case.
