“Doom 3 BFG Edition” Coming To PS3, 360 & PC

Bethesda have announced ‘Doom 3 BFG Edition’ for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, which will feature Doom 3, the ‘Resurrection Of Evil’ pack and seven brand new levels entitled ‘The Lost Mission’.

The game has been re-mastered for consoles with enhanced graphics, 5.1 surround sound, a new checkpoint system and tweaked controls. John Carmack, Technical Director at id Software said,

Today, the full experience has been enhanced and extended to be better than ever, and is delivered across all the platforms with a silky smooth frame rate and highly responsive controls.

New support for 3D TVs, monitors, and head mounted displays also allows players to experience the game with more depth than ever before. We think shooter fans everywhere will love it.

The Doom 3 BFG Edition will also include the original Doom and Doom 2.

  1. IDKFA!

    • Or when my dad was playing original doom – IDDQD!

      • I don’t see how those two don’t mix.

      • He liked finding the stuff for himself, he just wasn’t very good at staying alive.

  2. trophy support?

  3. the textures could have been improved… they still look like the original which dulls down the “improvement” they made. Only the 5.1 surround and HD resolution support seems to benefit the graphics & audio. Binding both D3 and RoE and the new level does sweeten the deal :p. Bet it still uses OpenGL API which is disappointing.

  4. I might get this, sounds like a good deal not to mention I can say I’ve played Doom (I’m 20 so wasn’t around when Doom was, although I’ve heard of it of course).

  5. Very welcome, me and cure had a great laugh on co-op with this so I look forward to revisiting mars.

  6. I’m interested. Already got it on disc for PC, but the extra features sound tempting.

Move support would seal the deal for me.

    • I’d like to add that I have a feeling this is leading up to the reveal of DOOM 4.

  7. Cool. Like the sounds of that.

  8. If the case is not a big fucking case, then it doesn’t deserve to be called the big fucking gun edition. May be interested in this. Depending on how good the story is and the replay value. :)

    • It’s worth a look, certainly. Very much the inspiration for Dead Space, so interesting from that perspective alone. A single player play through is cool, but the only replay value I got from it, was in its rather excellent co-op mode.

  9. Doomed I tell ye…. doomed!! Bit weird but I’d suspect this to be a download rather than boxed but neh, I loved Quake 2 on the Playstation (a demo) I’d like a remake of that bundled with the other games rather than Doom.

  10. Doom 3 was okay, but I’m much more excited by the fact that it comes with Doom 1+2.
