PSN: Network Down, Store Down

The PlayStation Network is currently down – dead, kaput, not responding. There’s no planned maintenance and this looks like it’s a bit of a surprise to Sony.

“PSN and Stores are currently unavailable,” says a Tweet from the official account. “We’ll let you know as soon as they’re back online.”

The Japanese PSN Status page might hold a little more information, although our translation efforts yield little other than an apology.

There’s meant to be a big content drop today for Modern Warfare.

Update: Sony have now said the PSN is “under maintenance“.

  2. well I can sign into psn and friends of mine are also signed but I either get an error code or the store just sinks into a black hole of nothingness when I try to enter the store

  6. Its because i have been downloading Motorstorm Apocalypse for the last three days, yes three days. I have finally broken the PSN!

    In fact all joking aside since the PS + offer went live last week downloads from the store have been painfully slow compared to normal. Sign in and trophy sync have also been very slow. If my memory serves me right this is usually a sign that to much is happening on PSN for it to deal with. The fact that a MW drop is also happening has maybe tipped it over the edge.

    I really hope Sony upgraded the servers available for downloading because I am all for digital downloads and love the games on offer to PS + members, I just don’t want them to take three days of continuous download to actually be installed.

    • Yeah, slow downloads, slow trophy sync, slow Store. Pretty much slow everything.

      I haven’t been able to add funds with my card either, so hopefully they’ll fix that whilst it’s down. :P

  7. So did MW break the store again?? Wouldn’t be the first time, but i didn’t know there was a content drop today, so it seems its a little more stealthy than usual.
