Wada: FFXIII Versus Isn’t Cancelled, Someone Is “Spreading A False Rumour”

Square Enix’s Yoichi Wada has this morning denied rumours started by Kotaku that said Final Fantasy XIII had been cancelled.

“It seems someone is spreading a false rumor about Versus being canceled,” he said. On the internet?! “Heh, just a few moments ago a regularly scheduled meeting for Versus ended.”

“If you were to see the city etc. presented today, you’d wouldn’t be able to stand from surprise, lol,” says the translation, which suggests it’s still very much work in progress.

Let’s hope he can back that up with some gameplay footage sooner rather than later.

  1. JUST SHOW IT TO US GOD DAMNIT!!!

  2. “me and the other guy left on the project working very hard on it’s completion”

  3. Hhhmmm, launch title for the PS4 maybe?

  4. Fingers crossed for a Tokyo Game show reveal. And hopefully a release date…

  5. COOL;) Hopefully it will come(hmm soon) & still be PS3 Exclusive :P

  6. if it’s a “false rumour”, doesn’t that make it true?

    • No. A rumor is not automatically something negative. Therefore a false rumor does not have to be a double negative. :)

  7. I had no doubt that it was still very much due for release. I’m 100% sure that the FF series will be back to true form with this title (open world, world map, airships & vehicles, FIXED CAMERA ANGLES(!)), it’s basically what every FF fan has been waiting for and I’m not surprised by the length of time it’s taken to develop. Remember how we were told that it would take 15 years to remake FF7? Well that’s because of the sheer effort it would take to make a game of that size and quality, 7 years to craft FFvsXIII makes perfect sense.

  8. this meeting, did it involve sitting in big chairs stroking white cats and plotting how to torture us further, i wonder.
    ^_^
