Square Enix’s extremely enjoyable crime action thriller, Sleeping Dogs, has stolen the top spot. In the first UK games chart in what feels like months to have a bit of variation, the steamy Hong Kong martial arts adventure has beaten New Super Mario Bros 2 to the top spot.
The Olympics are over now and this is reflected in the fact that both tie in video games are starting their inevitable journey downwards in the charts. Ghost Recon Future Soldier and Harry Potter Years 5-7 are climbing, apparently due to some hefty retail promotions.
With Darksiders II released tomorrow (Tuesday), we can expect next week’s chart to be different again. Here’s the top twenty:
- SLEEPING DOGS – SQUARE ENIX EUROPE
- NEW SUPER MARIO BROS. 2 – NINTENDO
- LONDON 2012: THE OFFICIAL VIDEO GAME – SEGA
- LEGO BATMAN 2: DC SUPER HEROES – WARNER BROS. INTERACTIVE

- THE ELDER SCROLLS V: SKYRIM – BETHESDA SOFTWORKS
- FIFA 12 – ELECTRONIC ARTS

Not surprising that Sleeping Dogs made the topspot with all of the GTA fans out there wanting something slightly similar, I wonder if that was mainly the Limited edition copy, which is all that I could see and buy from Shopto although it only cost standard game pricing.
Forrest_01
There is a standard edition too, but everywhere was actually out of stock of that one when i looked on Friday. Ended up having to go with Gamestation & their limited edition, which they were very kind to up the price to £45, as they realised that no-one else had any stock. B*stards.
Still, i had games to trade, so i still only paid £15 for it.
Brilliant game from what i have seen so far.

Not surprising seeing as its pretty much the only game released in weeks of any high quality. Good business to release at this time of year. Im sure sales would be a lot lower if released at the back end of the year.

Sleeping Dogs has had loads of good reviews but I’m still undecided whether to get it.
Does it have online play?
LTG Davey
Completely single player I believe.
Forrest_01
Online comparisons against your friends (wheelies, jumps etc), but no actual multiplayer deathmatches or whatever.
Which is a good thing IMO. Tired of it having to be in absolutely everything theses days.

Cheers LTG & Forrest, I’m crap at the usual online stuff in games like these so don’t normally buy them. As it’s single player I think I’ll give it a go.

Don’t think that I mentioned it before but if you have previously played/completed Just Cause 2, then you are automatically give the costume that Rico from Just Cause 2 wears for free. You just have to complete the first episodic missions and the outfit becomes available in your wardrobe at the safehouse.
I’ve been running/driving/fighting dressed as Rico from early on in the game. :P

Cheers Freeze, didn’t know that. I’ve completed Just Cause 2 so I’ll look out for that when I get S Dogs.

Oh yeah, forgot about that! It did raise a smile from me (even if the grapple is only for aesthetic effect).
stueeeee
I wonder why gta is selling in top 20 again….
