PSN Store Update: 22/08/12

Today has featured a mix of news for Sony fans. From odd patent applications aimed at digging out some extra cash from us to the sad news that Studio Liverpool is closing. This week’s Store update is something of a mixed bag too.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive launches, bringing anti-terrorism back to its online shooter roots. This franchise started off as a Half Life mod and exploded onto the PC way back in 1999 so the new release is quite exciting for some of us old-timers. [Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has launched on PC and Xbox 360, the US PSN got it yesterday but it’s not listed in the EU update. Oh dear, SCEE.] Retro/Grade also launches today, that’s an innovative game that plays with time and music (review soon!).

We should also see the Sleeping Dogs demo that was pulled last week, along with Urban Chaos that also got held back at the last minute. There are also demos for Madden and NHL games, as well as a few PS2 games ported over but sadly there’s not a thing for the Vita.

  1. Nothing for Vita, and JoJo is too expensive. Two thumbs down here.

  2. Sleeping Dogs demo, at last!

  3. Sleeping Dogs demo it is then, seeing as Counter strike is a no-show.

    • Same, heard a lot of good things about it.

And I guess the August installement of The Walking Dead must be next Wednesday then.

  4. Nothing for me :/ Bit off topic but are there are more AR games on the way for the Vita? We have had 5 so far and I thought there were meant to be 6 :s

    • I Think Ice Hookey table will be available soon.

      • ahh good good :) Left over some money in my PSN wallet for the next AR game.

    • Wasn’t the last one Tagged?

Didn’t they say it would be out soonish a while back.

  5. Sleeping Dogs demo and CS for me :)

  6. Sorry to go off-topic but has the ‘dislike’ button been removed from the site? Very interesting. Why is that may I ask?

    Back on topic.
Whats happened with Counter Strike? It’s out on XBL.

    • What a turd I am. I mean the ‘like’ button. Although a dislike button would be truly epic.

    • Think there’s a few bugs being ironed out as we’ve lost a few features in the forum too. Nothing too “conspiracy-ee-ee”. :-)

    • yep, the like button was kicking up errors so it’s been pulled for the time being.

The forum systems we use are also a constant pain in the arse, I’m looking into possibilities to get around that too…

  7. Nothing for the Vita again. I’m just glad PS1 classics are just around the corner and apparently there will be over 100 ready when we get the firmware update.

  8. Sleeping Dogs and Expendables 2 demoes for me!

  9. Interesting titles on some of those, will be interested to hear how they play…

  10. The amount of vita content never fails to amaze me…
