UK Sales Charts: Black Ops II Still Number One

Alex Mason might still be seeing lots of numbers, but Treyarch and Activision are only seeing one – 1 – as Black Ops II continues to be the UK’s best selling videogame, now having that top spot to itself for four weeks running.

It’s down 15% in terms of units, though, week on week.

It’s the 360 version at the top, with the PS3 version down in third, with the evergreen Just Dance 4 splitting the two shooters. Far Cry 3 slips one, Halo 4 holds fifth and FIFA 13 (again, on the 360) is in sixth place.

Quiet week for the newly launched Wii U though, Nintendo Land’s down to 27th and New Super Mario Bros. U is languishing at the bottom somewhere.

  1. We don’t usually get a breakdown of which version of each game is selling well do we? Interesting to see I guess, but find this format slightly harder to read. Not sure why. Too much text maybe.

Anyway, glad Far Cry is doing not too badly, looks stunning. And the wii U figures cannot be good reading for Nintendo. I’m guessing they were hoping for a much better return.

    • Agreed. Who cares which format sells what? I want numbers. How many collective copies have sold over the last week to claim their place.

      • same here just put the normal chart up.

  2. Interesting seeing the split between 360 & PS3. Literally everyone I know has a PS3, but it would appear this must be an extremely skewed picture. Fairplay to the 360.

    • Funny enough I have a hell of a lot more PSN friends than XBOX friends. But all bar two XBOX friends are personal friends. I only have two personal friends on PSN and one is my nephew.

Incidentally I play on-line more on PSN.

      • I think the 360 has a significant lead over the PS3 in the UK. Sales here tend to follow the US, roughly. The rest of Europe is very different as I think the PS3 leads the 360 overall.

  3. Borrowed my friends copy of FarCry3 this weekend and played through the co-op along with a chunk of the story. Meh, to be honest I’m glad I held fire getting it. Very generic gameplay unfortunately. It’s certainly impressive visually though – aside from the water and grass, which look rubbish on consoles.

    • What does generic game-play mean in your context?

      • Generic in this context means most of the missions seem very samey and consist mainly of clearing out enemy camps and climbing radio towers. Things might open up a bit later on but, from the few hours I’ve spent with it, I found myself getting bored.

      • Ah yeah I can understand that. Haven’t played since the weekend before (time occupied with PlanetSide 2) and yeah most of my time was spent switching on radio stations and, as you say, clearing out outposts.

Still haven’t got bored with it yet though. I do like the main quest missions. They are more story driven compared to FC2.

    • I’m considering Far Cry 3 or Hitman Whatever-it’s-called for my next purchase. Is this one any better than FC2? Because that was pretty poor I thought, but have liked the FC3 trailers and willing to give it another chance.

      • Its definitely better than FC2 but it still becomes very samey very quickly. The voice acting is also really, really bad. Some of the stealth kills are pretty cool though :-)

      • What the hell? Voice acting really, really bad? I have to massively disagree there.

      • Dont get me wrong, Vaas is amazing but the rest seem pretty terrible.

      • I think Dr.Earnhardt is good too, in fact all of the main characters are imo. Hoyt, Buck, etc. Jasons decent too.

  4. PSASBR dropped another 5 places on the PS3 chart (it’s not even in the Vita chart but that only has a top 10) but it might climb this week with the prices starting to tumble. I think Game have it for £20 now. LBP Karting it climbing after it’s price drops and Wonderbook is holding on. If it keeps that up then could be a long term hit which will be good for the Disney, Walking with Dinosaurs and Diggs Nightcrawler games next year.

There is a Wii U chart for the first time this week.

    NINTENDO LAND
    NEW SUPER MARIO BROS. U
    ZOMBI U
SONIC & ALL STARS RACING TRANSFORMED
    JUST DANCE 4
CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS II
BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY – ARMOURED EDITION
    SPORTS CONNECTION
DISNEY EPIC MICKEY 2: THE POWER OF TWO
    TEKKEN TAG TOURNAMENT 2

No AC III and COD not a number 1. Interesting to see what genres sell at launch with possible new consoles coming out next year.

    • Also no mention of ME3 in that list.

  5. Disgraceful. No sonic transformed, no ps all stars, f1 race stars, sports champions 2, tekken tag 2 – all some of the best games I’ve played in yonks. Shocking.
