PlayStation Store App Patched And Updated To 1.02, Now Much Snappier

The ‘new’ PlayStation Store application on your PlayStation 3 is now snappier. That’s the adjective everyone seems to be using on the internet this afternoon, and after a quick patch (taking it to version 1.02) we’d probably agree.

Loading times are somewhat quicker, it appears to be a tad smoother to navigate and it’s generally just a big nicer to use. Snappier. Yes. We approve.

The new PlayStation Store was announced last October to much excitement, and is a considerably richer environment than the old Store. It’s an application though, one that requires a further load, but with this latest patch that doesn’t seem to be such a chore.

Sony have promised to keep working on it, too, with things like a searchable download list due at some point this generation. Which will be really handy for Plus.

The patch is 26MB.

  1. Would like to see the old store return if I’m honest. The new one is clunky, a nightmare to navigate, sliding menu’s are horrible, impossible to find something you want, the search system is crap, you have to add free stuff to your basket, redeem codes are entered less conveniently, the colour is horrible, the main design is horrible, and it takes ages to load. I could go on forever

    • I agree with this completely. Unless what you’re looking for is “featured” it’s way too difficult to find. trying to find anything that isn’t “featured” usually means using that god-awful search feature that takes way too long. I used to love browsing the entire store daily, I now dred having to go to the store.
Also IDK why but when you log-in to the new store you’re treated with a extremely loud “bllliiiinnggg!!!” sound, its annoying as hell.

    • Oddly enough the search function is the only change I like… Otherwise I completely agree

  2. A speedier store is much welcome. However I’m currently boycotting it until they bring the download search function in, as last month over half of my list decided to adopt the same purchase date, making it an even bigger ball ache than usual to find what I want.

  3. I hope it is faster and easier to find stuff

  4. Lots faster, not only navigating, but also loading content and search results. Defiantly a step in the right direction for Sony, now they can do something about that download-list and fix some of the most stupid design errors in the store, eg. the awful plus section and the whats new section.

  5. they should work on the website store, as I have tried many times to buy something on there, with it just saying there is an error.

  6. Not had a chance to try it out, but anything that helps speeds things up is a good thing. I like the new store but it has always been some what sluggish.

  7. It’s still the same shitty new store, only a bit less worse than before.

    • you should write the press releases. More honest.
