First Black Ops II DLC Arrives on PS3 In Two Weeks

Good news for PlayStation owning fans of Call of Duty: the first DLC pack, Revolution, will arrive on PS3 (and PC) in just two weeks time – the 28th of February to be precise.

Revolution offers a decent amount of content, there’s no word on pricing, but going by previous Call of Duty map packs, it should cost around 11 or 12 pounds. It’s included in the season pass, of course, meaning if you’ve bought that you won’t have to pay a penny extra for Revolution.

The four brand new maps included are:

  • Hydro: Located in Pakistan, this hydro-electric plant comes complete with a lethal spillway that floods with very little warning.
  • Grind: Set in a skate park in Venice Beach (the birthplace of skateboarding!), quarter-pipes and curved surfaces drive players away from easy cover and into intense firefights.
  • Downhill: A ski resort in the French Alps, this snowy map is complete with a moving gondola system that can both offer cover and crush you to death.
  • Mirage: Located in China’s Gobi Desert, this luxury resort has been ravaged by a sandstorm.

These maps all look like great fun, particularly the first two. They’re not the only thing included in the DLC pack: you’ll also gain access to a new Zombies mode map: Die Rise, which “drops players inside a maze of crumbling skyscrapers amidst a ravaged Chinese city”.

There’s also an all new Zombies game mode, dubbed Turned, where one player can play as a humans while the others take control of the Zombies themselves, only swapping when an infected player catches the human. It’s an interesting twist and should be quite a bit of fun.

Although oddly neglected from the press release, Black Ops II – which has already released on Xbox 360 – also features a brand new SMG, the Peacemaker, which is described as having the speed of an SMG with the accuracy of an assault rifle. Sounds good, then.

  1. Looks wicked!

  2. This is probably the first time since MW1 that I’m actually going to be buying CoD DLC. I like the added weapon, but if its as described everyone is going to spam the hell out of it. I also hope all 4 maps will support all game modes.

    • Yes, all 4 maps work with every gamemode.

  3. Great DLC pack with some good maps. The amount of time I’ve spent on Hydro makes it worth the tenner alone :-)

    • I agree, generally the dlc maps aren’t as good as the original maps but these maps are great. With grind being my favourite.

  4. Looks pretty good. Not sure on the gun, sounds like it will be a little overpowered.

  5. Activision have shot themselves in the foot.

When the DLC is first released on xbox I watch all the videos on YouTube and find out about the maps and can’t wait to play it but then when it finally releases on PS3 I’ve completely lost interest so end up not buying it. I’ve never bought a COD DLC pack whilst MS has had this deal with Activision.

They could have earned a lot out of me.
