News Snatch: The Next Call Of Duty, The Not So Last Guy And More “Obvious News”

Hey, proper news today, good stuff that’s at least 25% more intresting the the bum fluff from yesterday, starting with a new video for GRID 2.

Patch Snatch: God Of War Ascension is getting tinkered with, the ‘Trial of Archimedes’ mission has been criticised by some gamers as being rather difficult. Game Director Todd Papy tweeted “I personally tuned it. I didn’t mean for it to be so hard. We are looking into patching it.”

PlayStation All-Star Battle Royale With Cheese is also being patched with almost every character being tweaked, for the rather huge patch notes click here.

Is it that time of year again? Yes it is, a teaser site for the next Call Of Duty game has appeared with the ironic URL of http://unexpectedreveal.com.

The domain has been registered by Infinity Ward and shows a blurry screenshot with the text “Objective was updated. Escape.” written in the familiar bright green COD font. A countdown can be seen and the HTML code for the site includes the text “Call of Duty – Worldwide reveal March 21”.

OMG!

Hey, you know my theory that Ubisoft are deliberately leaking images for Assassin’s Creed games to feed the hype? The one that is all in my head? Well just a few hours ago the Internet discovered a listing for Assassin’s Creed Rising Phoenix for PS Vita.

Well bless my cotton socks, by pure and utter coincidence another screenshot from the game has just leaked! Just in time for everyone to add onto their reports of the game listing! What are the chances of that happening?

Let’s take a good look at the screenshot. It is for “Internal Use Only” but what use? The screen is mostly black, shows no characters, no details, nothing apart from a weird blob in the centre of the screen. It’s rather like – dare I suggest it – a teaser image, rather than a screenshot that could be of any use to teams developing the game as it shows bugger all.

But of course, I’m making this all up in my head.

Ubisoft are absolutely, definitely not leaking images on purpose.

Note: Yes they are.

<To be sung to the ITN News At Ten theme tune>

  1. “Bum fluff” no way,now there’s two words i’ve not seen together for some time.

  2. “God Of War Ascension is getting tinkered with, the ‘Trial of Archimedes’ mission has been criticised by some gamers as being rather difficult” Wow, really. These gamers today are whiney little bitches. I completed the game on ‘normal’ difficulty without dying in combat once. Argh….

    • Agreed on all fronts. I managed the same thing, did not die once in combat, only from the fecking QTE’s.

Playing through on Hard and haven’t had many issues.

    • On hard it’s a different story, normal is easy, hard is hardcore.

But I agree though about the whining, demon & dark souls have to be this gen most hardcore

  3. They better not tune it down. The trials are supposed to be hard, with the exception of GoWIII, they have been. They aren’t meant to be trials anybody can just pick up a controller and beat them on the first or second try. This infuriates me, there’s already too much dumbing down going on, we don’t need this too…

Next they’ll be saying that the equivalent of God Mode isn’t fair.

    • Games have got generally easier and easier it seems. I remember hacking my way through the first GoW on God Mode and it was brutal. Really REALLY difficult. But once I beat it it was a real sense of achievement.

Where’s the fun in beating something so easy. I want a challenge, not to mention some longevity.

      • Yep. I tried my luck on Chains of Olympus instead, which was on PSP – that didn’t make it easier! Two hits and you’re dead. That’s what that option is for. If you don’t like it don’t play it.

There’s generally too much hand-holding, from tutorials to games entirely on rails. Do this, do that – in that order (Ghost Recon I’m looking at you..). If I wanted to sit back and not think or try that hard, I’d turn on the TV and watch a bloody film. Ugh.

  4. ‘Unexpected reveal’ site is great. I’m not a COD fan, but at least they’re not hiding it. Rising phoenix could be good. Need to get the first vita game. Hope it helps more devs jump on the vita…

  5. I take it the diving suit with the bum missing can go back in the wardrobe today?

  6. I love the itv News at 10 bit lool I can hear it in my head ! also disappointing how todd pappy and santa monica are making a game easier. Surely the challenge is the best part. ahhhh

  7. Not sure if it’s been mentioned anywhere on the site in previous articles but GRID 2 is to include Touring cars, there’s a picture of a Volvo S60 Touring car doing the rounds Belgian Touring car championship I think….it’s not Brands or Snetters but it’s a start.

  8. the keywords metadata on that COD page sums it all up:

“Call of Duty, Activision, Modern Warfare, Teaser Trailer, Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games, Neversoft, 2013 March 21, Countdown, MW4”
