Call of Duty: Ghosts Gameplay Premiered

You’d usually be expecting to see the first gameplay footage from a new Call of Duty game at the end of Microsoft’s E3 conference but since this is a brand new branch of the series on next-generation consoles, Activision have decided to do things a little bit differently.

They’ve went ahead and premiered the first gameplay footage in their own pre-E3 show, focused entirely on the title. It’s about half an hour long and shows two gameplay segments, an interview with writer Stephen Gaghan by Geoff Keighley and a little bit of question answering, mostly revolved around the Call of Duty dog – now confirmed to be named Riley. After the Modern Warfare 2 character Simon “Ghost” Riley. Aw, that’s nice.

The first part is an underwater section of the game, named Into the Deep, which looks to be filled with as much stealth as there are explosions, while the second part of gameplay focuses on the canine companion Riley, showing how he affects the game and how he’s a playable character. A good way to kick off E3, then – check out the video in full below or on YouTube (with a forty minute countdown) here.

  3. “SAUSAGES” :D

+ WTF!?!?!?!?!?!?!? No Xbox Logo at the end???????????????? I AM SHOCKED!!! LOL:D

    • Woah, can we keep the comments section tidy please. That’s a lot of capitals, exclamation marks and question marks.

      • look out Garrett is a MeMbEr of the ApostROPhE police!!!

  4. How come, every time Infinity Ward show off a new CoD it’s the one and only stealth mission in the game? It’s like they want us to think their game is slower paced and more interesting than it really is.

It’s important to note that real gameplay will be in 60 fps, so even though this doesn’t look very impressive, it should be a lot better live.

  5. Am I the only one not blown away by the visuals? The environment underwater and on land actually looks very current gen in most places. The animations are smoother, and some of the background detail is nice, but this video could quite easily be put out as a PS3/360 gameplay vid and I wouldn’t doubt it for a second.

    • I thought it WAS PS3/360!

    • Wow, fella. I have to disagree vehemently and you know me – we usually see eye-to-eye on most things. Watching the ‘In To The Deep’ level on 720p 27″ monitor, was beautiful at times. The level of detail in the textures was suitably “power pc” but the polygon count looked to be way, WAY higher than the current gen. Equally, the start to the forest/jungle scene had such lush foliage and other flora.

Saying that, if the gameplay feels tired then that’s a sad situation but it does actually look, to me, that the single player campaigns are steadily improving – although I consider Black Ops (I) to be a fair misstep with the quality of the SP campaign.

Anyway, regardless of all of this, I’ll be picking it up on Steam when it’s under £20. I can never justify more for the COD franchise until something changes, radically.

      • To be fair, the background detail when you see the church fall and stuff is stunning. It’s just the stuff like the sparse low detailed grass blowing in the breeze over a low res floor. Im so used to seeing this in every COD game to date, and this looks absolutely no different whatsoever.

      • I genuinely thought this was still current gen. Looks nicer for sure, but in terms of stepping up the visuals along with a new console specs? Still pretty primitive compared to what you’d expect with such powerful new systems. What you get though when games are practically rushed out in a few years. It is Call of duty mind and they’re never known for looking amazing. As long as the gameplay flows and new shit adds to the experience then theres no problem here. These games are supposed to be fun :)

      • Call of Duty lost it’s fun after the third game for me, bar World at War. This might look nice, but it’s still the same linear BS they pump out year after year. Same missions, different cover.

      • And I’m sorry, but if a dog stormed a building full of men with guns, they wouldn’t all run out the door waving their arms in the air. The dog thing seemed okay, but they’re treating it like a furry tank on legs.

  6. The dog is ridiculous. But I bet when it inevitably dies in the end, I still feel more sorry for it than any of the millions of humans I’ve slaughtered over the years (on and off screen).

    • God bless you for not being picky over who you slaughter.

  7. Gameplay looks awesome, and the story sounds great too!

  8. Haven’t played COD for a few years now, but this actually looks quite good. The dog section looks great!

  9. You can say what you like about how it looks or about the dog, the soundtrack sounds amazing!

  10. That dog is like a terminator. See how scared them big tough baddies with guns flew through that big wooden door at the end after the little pooch jumped in through the window and frightened the life out of em.
