Podcast: Episode 102 – E3 Stories, Knights of the Old Republic and Films Galore

As you may have noticed, it was E3 two weeks ago. If you’ve been paying attention then you’ll know that Peter, Alex and I were over in LA for the duration of the show, so on this week’s podcast Peter and I spend a good amount of time talking about our views of our time in America. It’s more about what LA and E3 were like than the games though. We share our experiences of flying that far, Peter moans about how hot LA was and we also have a bit of a chat about what the various press conferences were like to go to.

Of course it’s not just Peter and me, Kev and Lewis were there too. Kev’s been playing a lot of the iOS version of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, while Lewis has seen so many films that he covers seven in a few minutes with some quick fire reviews.

On top of that we’ve got a quiz from Lewis that takes on a new format this week, and our usual selection of listener questions to round things out.

  • Please send us questions via email to podcasts[at]thesixthaxis.com.
  • You can also tag your questions on Twitter with #tsacast and, provided you’re not on a private account, we’ll see them in our search each week. Finally, as usual, there’s a questions thread in the forum.

This podcast features strong language, jokes in poor taste and adult themes, if you’re offended by that then we recommend that you don’t listen to it at all.

  • As usual, you can grab the MP3 file here (right click to download).
  • You might want to get it (when the RSS catches us) on the RSS feed, here.
  • Or we’re on iTunes, when iTunes feels like updating. You can also leave us a review and subscribe there, if you want to be particularly lovely.

  1. See Motalla ?! I told you they wouldn’t abandon the podcast ^^ tomorrow work day will be great :D

  2. PS3 has so many features i keep forgetting about – just last week i remembered it can play music while i browse the internet.
I often find myself browsing in silence, so the podcast is just the ticket and it means i should be able to listen to them more often! :)

  3. Another great podcast guys, really good quiz too, a fun format. You just need to add a load of quizshow-esque sound effects now.
That question about one movie/game/album was really good whoever came up with that. I think I’d have to say game – Just Cause 2. It’s by no means the best game in the world but I think it wins for endlessly fun to just drive/fly around and blow stuff up, plus there is so much area to explore. Movie – Pulp Fiction, never gets boring or old listening to Samuel L. ‘Motherfucking’ Jackson recite Ezekiel 25:17 :) and album would have to be Foo Fighters – Wasting Light, I really do love that album and can listen to it on a loop easily.

  4. Good one again ^^

Coming back to the XboxOne stuff I just wanted to add that at my work, each day I hear people think more about buying a PS4, rather than the MS console and I have to add that as a software development company we have a lot of MS fanboys and PC geeks. I think there is no way MS can have an comeback in this console war. “The damage is done”.

Great to hear a lot about the E3 from your point of view. I think it’s just like I imagined it would be and I think that if you are a gamer GAMESCOM/Germany is the place to go. The talk about the DS4 just made me want the PS4 even more at launch and don;t have an fucking idea how the hell should I get the money for it, maybe a second job (work at nights?). Speaking of PS4 launch, which title would you recommend as to buy with the console if you could select only one (Driveclub does not interest me at all)? Killzone?

I’m currently playing XCOM:EU at PS3 (free from PS+ version) and I’m experiencing serious frame rate drops, the game actually stops sometimes or the enemy movement is very “lagy”. Is this because of the downloadable version or maybe only my PS3 issues? This does not change the fact that the game is very good and hard. I’m playing it on easy right now (don’t laugh!) as I just wanted to play it through one time, without too much time invested. Looks fine, character voices are great. Cool stuff. Will probably buy boxed version sometime.

    One game/movie/album?
