FIFA 14 On The Vita Will Be The Same As FIFA 13 Vita

EA will be releasing FIFA 14 on the Vita this year, but it will be exactly the same game as the original Vita FIFA title, FIFA Football. This rather disturbing news comes from EA Sports’ David Rutter, via an interview with Eurogamer.

“There will be a Vita version, and it’ll be the same great gameplay…It’s the same great gameplay and new kits,” Rutter said when questioned about FIFA 14 on Sony’s handheld.

Charging full price for what is essentially a squad update with no new gameplay improvements is a joke. Well it would be if this was funny. With the lack of any competition from other football games on the Vita, EA really do currently have the license to do as they please.

The only way a change would occur is if EA saw lost revenue, or PES arrived on the system to challenge FIFA’s monopoly.

  1. On the plus side. At least next gen FIFA 14 should be playable on vita via remote play

  2. Not suprised and I’ll stay away from it until they do a proper update. On a side note, FIFA Football is more expensive in the PS Store than FIFA 13.

  3. I only bought fifa 13 on vita and didnt get the first game so i’m happy to stay with one. Once football manager is released, it won’t get a look in either haha.

But yeah, EA you lazy lazy bastards. Feel sorry for the suckers that won’t realise this.

  4. Managed to get a digital copy of FIFA 13 free with a memory card purchase from Amazon. I have still yet to play it…

    • Picked up the first game for about £8 from CEX, it’s not bad but I wouldn’t want to pay full price for it.

      • Yeah got mine second hand on Amazon for £7. It is good but not worth full price.

  5. This is why we need competition in the games industry. And it also reminds us that despite trying to change their image, EA are still a bunch of greedy shits.
They never even bothered to patch the unattainable trophy from the first vita fifa.

    • +1
I agree as that is my last trophy for the platinum! EA are too busy copying and paste last year game to this year while counting their money…..
My last Fifa was 2010 for the PS3 and Still have Fifa Football with just one bleeding broken trophy left!!!

      • What’s worse is they tried to fob people off claiming trophies cannot be altered after release. Some people would’ve spent hours trying to get that last trophy not knowing it was glitched.

    • Exactly, not only when it comes to software but hardware too. If Sony weren’t competing with Microsoft for example, the Xbox One would have retained its awful policies. But because of Sony not doing it, Microsoft didn’t, and future X1 owners now have a much more consumer friendly console.

This FIFA shit on Vita needs to stop. It would be great to have a proper FIFA on that handheld, but at the moment it’s the definition of reskin. I find it funny how David Rutter basically said it’s a £40 reskin. Fucking disgraceful. He shouldn’t be able to stomach saying that.

      • And who knows how close Sony might have got to implimenting some of the patents they have like pausing the game to display a video advert if it wasn’t for MS.

      • Patents are one thing, actually announcing your policies the way MS did and acting so cocky about it – like the consumer was a piece of shit who doesn’t know what they want – is another. And them to only change because of pre order numbers? Reeks of desperation to me.

      • Just pointing out the neither company has customers interests as a priority. Not getting into the whole “Sony are better than ms” argument with you.

      • I was merely pointing out that one at least treats their customers with more respect than another.

      • Yeah Sony wouldn’t ignore support forum posts, lie about being hacked, release untested firmware. I could go on.

      • Still not as bad as wanting to so clearly strip their consumers of their rights – something they’ll try again years down the line after they’ve cushioned you up.

      • Oh yeah the removing the right to sue them over loss or damage to your data or system, I forgot about that. Thanks for reminding.

  6. Isn’t this what ea do with FIFA every year anyway? Maybe add a gimmick and that’s your new FIFA

    • No. It’s not. Last 3 or 4 iterations have seen major overhauls each year, improving the experience each time. The game is massively different now to what it was 3 or 4 years ago.

    • How ignorant. FIFA 13 feels completely different to me than FIFA 12. Much more fluid, and FIFA 14 looks great too.

But meh, who am I kidding, yearly releases are ALWAYS just reskins aren’t they?

    • That’s all they’ve done for a least 15 years now. Add a feature, remove a feature. Add it again a few years later.

      • It really hasn’t.. If FIFA is a constant rehash, then Halo is to me.

      • I’ve played every fifa since the megadrive and that’s what I have found to happen. Actually agree on halo, most overrated series ever.

  7. I dont see why they just dont update fifa 13 with new squads and kits, thats what this new game essentially is. Greedy swines.

  8. This is the pinnacle of the yearly release farce. What’s sad is that the uninformed will go and buy this game without the knowledge that they’re being ripped off.

  9. Ridiculous. I didn’t buy FIFA 13 on Vita but I gave them a (begruding) pass last time out as the original game came out in Feb and the next installment was in October.

I thought ok, they are getting things in line with the other FIFA releases so the next big changes will be in FIFA 14.

This is terrible news for gamers and just highlights how bad it is for us that there’s no PES to even give us another football game option.

Missed chance for PES imo – if they could’ve got a decent portable version out the door I, for one, would’ve picked it up. As opposed to playing the game I bought 18 months ago but with new kits.

  10. I would love a PES vita game. Does anyone know if the PSP verisons work on vita?
