Sony have just surprised us all by revealing PlayStation Vita TV, a 6cm by 10cm (tiny) device which allows you to watch video and network services or even play Vita and PSP games on your TV, controlled by a DualShock 3.
It appears to be a small console which is powered by the same stuff as the Vita, and includes an HDMI port for hooking up to your TV. There’ll be 1300 titles available
The system also works as a companion device, which allows you to play PS4 games in another room without the need for a second console. That’s amazing.
It’ll be available in Japan on November 14th and will cost 9,945 yen or 14,994 yen with tax for a bundle including a controller and an 8GB memory card.
So, that’s about £70 for a device that allows you to play Vita games on your TV, or PS4 games in another room, as well as a plethora of TV and video content. I’m in.
UPDATE:Â We’ve been sent a few more details on the system from Sony.
- There will be a system software update to patch in DualShock 4 support.
- It can connect to other PS Vitas via ad hoc mode.
- Two DualShock 3 controllers can be paired to the system, allowing for playing PS1 titles.
- PS Vita can be used as a controller for some Wii U like functionality.
- Will support “nasne”, a networked recorder and media storage device.

Words cannot express how incredible this this! Presumably it’ll be around the £100-£120 range and to get an actual console plus a unit for PS4 for that price is ridiculous value. For me it’ll be perfect for the man-room, it’s a wonderful concept in a beautifully sleek little box. I HAVE to have one!!!

Streaming my PS3 to another room is awesome. When the missus has her friends around and Im confined to upstairs I no longer have to suffer the pains of Saturday Night TV. That alone is worth £70 :-D

This is a brilliant bit of kit, but of no interest to me as I’m a singleton who can use my tv as and when I choose. Would definitely get 1 if I was with an ‘other-half’ tho.

Great piece of kit, but Sony just killed Vita. It’s cheaper, uses a DS4 and you can play Vita games on a TV rather than a tiny screen.
I honestly can’t see many people paying more than twice the price just so it’s portable – I certainly wouldn’t, I’d just use my phone for gaming on the loo!

Was thinking this would be awesome to play PS4 in the bedroom when the missus is watching TV, but as mentioned above it would be even better to have it hidden away in the wardrobe and stream downstairs! I might even get away with not telling the missus I bought one as there will be nothing under the TV to arouse suspicion

one thing to note it is not only wireless and can be hard wired via lan port so if you run a cable or use a set of home plugs you’ll have full 100mb connection.
Which is more than enough for lag free gaming on your ps4.
perfect example just look at the wii-u and how it does it, super lag free.

That’s a cracking bit of kit. I’ll certainly be getting one to add to my Sony gadget collection.

Whyare people saying it’s a vita killer? I sure as hell will still be using my vita, need something to get me through the last hour of my shift at work when I normally don’t have anything to do. Can’t exactly take this and the 55″ tv to work with me – that won’t hide behind my desk too well D:
