Community Chronicle: 20/10/13

Well, I think that might be the end of that. For yet another week we are left without any gaming rig submissions, and so I am, to all intents and purposes, going to can it. That means that this week, I’m bringing something new to fill the void left in its wake, with a feature that can provide content with more regularity.

However, if people do decide they still want to contribute photos of their gaming places, then I will still be more than happy to drop those neatly into place for people to see. This means that there’s still the submission form below, and you get in touch with me on Twitter at @teflon, or just send me an email out of the blue to [email protected].

So without further ado, I present Hot Topics.

“But what on earth is this?” I hear you cry silently to yourselves. Simply put, it’s a way for us to pick and choose some of the best points of discussion around TSA, and highlight some of the thoughts and comments of the community.

The big news this last week was that Watch Dogs and Driveclub are both being delayed until 2014 and missing the launch of the next generation consoles. As Gazzagb rightly pointed out, “People who were on the fence about jumping into the next gen may definitely think again now. Watch Dogs was one of the few games I was geniunly interested in for next-gen.” Certainly this is doubly true for those that wanted Driveclub on day one, and I have seen quite a few people stating that they’re cancelling their orders.

However, amidst all of the disappointment, The Von Braun poses a quite lengthy – and now heavily edited – question, asking, “What would you really prefer: Sony release an unfinished version of the game, poorly optimised, buggy, features cut etc. […] or the game gets delayed, team given time they need to optimise game and deliver the experience they want?”

He continued to say that, “Personally I’d be happy for a few months delay on any game, if it meant I got a far higher quality product…” A sentiment that I agree with. While disappointing, I’d rather have a great game at the end of it.

Our third and final stop this week is with Killzone 3’s cliffhanger ending. It turns out that Shadow Fall is set so far into the future that the ending to KZ3 won’t ever be resolved. Takyu found this quite disappointing, and went on to say that, “My biggest problem with the Killzone series, as much as I love it, is that it lacks a real sense of identity for the player character. I loved the choice of 4 characters in the first Killzone, but I’m continually disappointed that the series hasn’t reintroduced Luger or Hahka, and quickly did away with Templar.

“Now, by the sounds of it, Shadowfall will be continuing on with barely a thought to Sev, Rico, Narville, Jammer etc. not to mention the fact that Natko had already gone A.W.O.L. between KZ2 and KZ3.”

It sounds like he needs to click on the Emergency Kittens which Tuffcub linked to…

“I clicked on the Emergency Kittens,” said Tarbun84, “then refreshed, then refreshed again. It is now ten minutes later. Damn time-wasting kittens.”

It seems to have been quite a slow week on this side of the banner, but I know that quite a few people have been playing and completing Beyond: Two Souls. Eldave0 played through it with his wife, thoroughly enjoying it, whilst Flexxible has burnt through it all already, to earn himself the Platinum. I think I’m about halfway through the story, myself…

F4rgo has been busy grinding his way through Diablo 3, to earn himself that trophy for 5 million experience point, I think it was. Certainly quite a trial, but at least he’s also found time to play through Rain, even if it was a little short. KeRaSh has also been on the grind, maxing out his character and hitting Level 50 as a Dragoon in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, before heading off the to endgame content.

There’s plenty of you still getting stuck in with GTA V, though, whether it be online or offline. R1MJAW falls firmly into the latter camp, polishing the 100% completion trophy, as well as turning his eye to Skydive: Proximity Flight for another platinum, which sees him edging ever closer to the big one double-oh.

Hornet1990 has been battling his way through the Battlefield 3 campaign, just in time for BF4’s release in a few weeks, enjoying it much more than Call of Duty: Black Ops 2’s story.

Finally, we round things off as Germanos sounds like he’s finished and really enjoyed Transformers: War for Cybertron. Tuffcub will be glad to hear this!

We’re nearly done, but you can head over to page two for the full trophy leaderboards. To finish off this page, we have the usual submission form for photos and accomplishments.

  1. what no gaming spaces again
right i gonna crack out the old Kodak and sort something out for next week..

  2. Great new feature, and that’s not just because I’m in it!
My only suggestion would be to provide a link to the comment (perhaps on the commenter’s name), so you can see it + the replies for yourself, and therefore you get a better idea of the discussion.

  3. Like the feature and likewise not just for the mention.

Love to take credit for the Dead Space 3 plat but I haven’t even played it. I’ll have one missing once that one’s fixed so there’s been a hiccup somewhere.

  4. Tuffcub likes the Transformers:WfC game? Glad to hear it, maybe we could play some co-op campaign or the Escalation :D

    • Tuffcub just likes anything and everything to do with Transformers. :P

  5. Great to get a comment included but wish it was for an insightful gaming comment and not my addiction to kitten pictures. Damn kittens.
