Community Round-Up: 23/11/13

The Xbox One was released yesterday, and there’s only 6 days until the PS4 is released outside of the US too! If you’re getting one on Friday, I bet you’re twitching in your chair right now or, if you’re not getting one, writhing in jealousy. I know I am!

Anyway, let’s pull out the jumper cables and kick start this week’s Community Round-Up!

CRU Banner - comps COD

A few days ago, we announced the winner for our Call of Duty: Ghosts PS4 Hardened Edition competition and the lucky winner was NinjaMoogle! So congratulations to him, and keep your eyes peeled for when we next have a great competition.

CRU Banner - article - tearaway

Once again we haven’t got any Meets scheduled, perhaps you’re all waiting to get your hands on your PS4s?

This week Peter took an early look at the freshly released SimCity: Cities of Tomorrow and shared his thoughts on it, while on Mobile Watch, Jim gave us his impressions of Star Wars: Tiny Death Star and Marvel Puzzle Quiz.

The Reviews were also on the quiet side this week, but let’s begin with Stefan who gave 9/10 to Tearaway. It sounds like the game lives up to Media Molecule’s high standards and reputation of producing some of the best games for unshackling your creativity, and it sounds perfect for Vita too.

Another impressive game was Super Mario 3D World for the Wii U. Blair described it as “a perfect co-operative experience” and gave it an 8/10. Lastly, we have Gamoc who gave 7/10 to Marlow Briggs and the Mask of Death for PC and XBLA, and looked at Rimworld for IndieFocus.

Following the PS4’s release in the US last week, guest writer and community member Matthew Wingler gave us his initial impression of the console, while Blair got his mitts on a console too and talked about the DualShock 4 too. Peter also chipped in with some thoughts about the Xbox One’s release, which took place yesterday.

From the Community articles, Hot Topics discussed the PS4 release and Uncharted 4, while BlackRedYellow showed off his gaming rig with a new addition (no points for guessing what it was!) in the Chronicle. WeView this week saw Terraria appear, while Bargain Bin It came out on top for Resistance: Burning Skies in its Verdict.

A Matter of Perspective focused on Mafia II courtesy of Aran, while Jim revisited Uncharted Golden Abyss in PlayBack.

The gang had a right giggle in Episode 120 of the Podcast, while Peter was very busy in NewsDesk #22, featuring all the news from the past week, including PS4 Bundles, the Uncharted 4 teaser and the new Lord of the Rings game. Last but by no means least, there’s What We Played #132 from Greg.

Hopefully by next week the new Forums will be opened, but until then you’ll just have to twiddle your thumbs and count down the days until Friday.

  1. Cant wait until the forums are back. woop woop. Also I have Tearaway on its way to me which should be loads of fun!
    Just 6 days left!!

    • What happened with the forums? *living under a rock* :)

      • The TSA crew shut them down as someone was trying to hack it. Good decision to close it down to be honest. Hopefully its all ok no.

      • They were taken offline after some security issues, the new ones should be opened up soon hopefully.

  2. Really enjoying Tearaway charming game, only noticed last night checking on the off chance that the forums are open for viewing but not commenting yet,and Roll on Friday!!! :-)

  3. Xbox One bad for your health!
Two guys in Gloucester who were among the first to get their hands on the X1 were mugged on there way back to their car their consoles stolen. Poor guys.

    • That’s a bit tight. Wait months for your console only to have some fucker steal it before you get home. I hope the bastards that did it get caught but probably not.

    • This seems to be quite common around launch days apparently. A mate of mine was telling me that during the launch of COD, he went in to collect his prestige package and the cashier asked if he had anyone with him as apparently there were scumbags stalking the shop watching potential targets to steal from. I wonder what security measures retail shops have and do they consider outside their shop apart of their security?

  4. *twiddles thumbs* :)

  5. Im moving house monday, so that will pass some time, luckily Sky will have my internet installed on the 27th. Must have known i was getting my PS4!
