PS4 Software Chart: Killzone Emerges On Top

Earlier today the UK sales chart for all platforms was released, showing a battle between Killzone Shadow Fall, FIFA 14, COD: Ghosts and Battlefield 4 for top spot. Ghosts won that battle but the same can’t be said for the PS4 only software chart as Guerrilla Games’ Killzone: Shadow Fall emerged victorious.

FIFA 14 held on to second place and Battlefield third, while Ghosts finished in fourth. Meanwhile Sony’s other first party exclusive, Knack, entered this chart in seventh.

1. Killzone: Shadow Fall (Sony)
2. FIFA 14 (EA)
3. Battlefield 4 (EA)
4. Call of Duty: Ghosts (Activision)
5. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag (Ubisoft)
6. Need for Speed: Rivals (EA)
7. Knack (Sony)
8. LEGO Marvel Super Heroes (Warner Bros)
9. NBA 2K14 (2K Sports)
10. Injustice: Gods Among Us (Warner Bros)

  1. As expected. As much as I’m enjoying my X1, I would gladly swap something like the Halo series for Killzone.

    • Halo is better than Killzone imo but in the bigger picture PS wins the exclusive war easily

    • Hey, I’ll take you up on that swap. I guess its franchise fatigue for both of us.

      • Strangely I find Halo too cartoony and floaty, Killzone two dark and sluggish. I really do find COD to have the best gameplay mechanics (omg nooo) but I don’t find it that interesting a game to play.

Oh how I wish for a Half Life 3 style game…..

      • You remind me of Goldilocks, waiting for that just right, Half Life-porridge goodness! ; )

Sounds like Titanfall might be a match. Killzone is too dark for me I think, maybe too much graphics focus. The first time I booted up Killzone 2 and through the whole campaign I was obsessing over the graphics, so I was always looking at the bad textures etc. I just ‘play’ halo if that makes sense.

      • ha ha – love the goldilocks comparison. I haven’t played a first person game since Half Life 2 that I was as impressed with (or played more than 10 times though). I’d guess that Bioshock would be the closest but then I only played that about 3 or 4 times.

      • ‘Fatigue’ is certainly the right word. Loved Halo 1 and Reach but haven’t really enjoyed the others. Killzone on the other hand, I loved parts 2 and 3 and am very envious I can’t play Shadow Fall

      • Just shows how preferences are very different… Many years back, I borrowed the then current gen first XBox from a friend for a weekend, played Halo 2 I think it was, and couldn’t play more than the first hour, I hated it that much. Killzone 2, however, is one of my all-time favorites in gaming, just love it.

  2. Deserved, id say – Good to see that Battlefield beats COD as well – looks like we have all finally come to our sences.

  3. Finally getting the hang of killzone, glad I took the plunge.

  4. Just received Killzone SF a couple of hours ago as a late birthday present and I’m loving it so far…only played the first 2 levels though so we’ll see what the rest of the game is like.
I currently own Killzone, FIFA and NFS and I’m getting Battlefield off Santa so I’m glad to see them all in the top 10.

  5. Although its good ot see this at the top. personally i find the gameplay a little too arcadish. KZ2 was my favourite in terms of gameplay (minus when people wouldn’t die after being shot a million times), Killzone 3 had a really good balance between being weighty but also responsive. But this one seems very light and average

  6. this is really a pointless chart!
seeing as killzone is probably the ps4’s best release game most people would have bought the killzone bundle.
    therefore putting at number one!
i personally didn’t like killzone and 3 was in my opinion the worst in the series.
it might of been a different picture had there been a cod bundle or bf4?

  7. THRILLZONE!!!! Cracking game! Loving it as I do the series!!

  8. I was going to get Shadowfall as my first game, but bottle and went for need for speed, which is excellent. I’ll get it down the line. Maybe I should get 3 back off my cousin and finish that first….

  9. Need more maps in KZ. Getting addicted to the game.

  10. I’m really enjoying the Killzone:SF SP campaign (havent tried MP yet), so a deserved spot, imo.. NFS:Rivals is pretty good too, although I think I preferred Most Wanted. I may have to pick up AssFlag as well, I’ve got a lot of Assassins fatigue after the last two games, but I hear a lot of good things about this one.

Also, with US PSN cards from Amazon and a US PSN account, I can get it for $60 (£36!).
