PlayStation Store Update: 29/01/14 – Tomb Raider DE, Gunslugs & Backgammon

As we come to the end of January, the release schedule is still fairly quiet and the release of Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is the biggest of the week. You can get the PS4 remake for £44.99/€59.99 (Turns out the original eye-watering £54.99 was a typo) though it won’t be made available until Friday 31st.

That’s the only release for the PS4 this time out, with Outlast coming to PS4 and the PS+ IGC next week. So it’s up to the PS3 and Vita to pick up the slack, with the former seeing the addition of pre-orders for Dark Souls 2 and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. At the time of writing, only the latter is available.

The PS3 also sees Backgammon Blitz for £4.99/€6.19, making the jump across from PS4 and PSV, the PS2 Classic release of Legend Of Kay for £3.99/€4.99, a NAMCO Fighter Collection for £19.99/€29.99 and a re-release of Toki Tori with the soundtrack added for £3.99/€4.99.

Rounding out the PS3 is the Cross-Buy Curve Studios Mega Bundle, which brings together Lone Survivor, Stealth Inc., Proteus and Thomas Was Alone for £19.99/€29.99. This one will mainly be for those not subscribed to PS+, though subscribers can get 20% off, but it’s an excellent way to catch up on indie games you you missed out on.

The Vita gets the release of Gunslugs for £1.99/€2.49 alongside three bundles that bring together various combinations of Mahjong Royal Towers, Fort Defense, Mahjong World Contest, Doodle God and Doodle Devil for between £4.79/€5.99 and £7.99/€9.99. Oh, and there’s a demo of Toukiden: The Age of Demons too.

It’s nice and busy on PS Mobile, as Farm Fury, Battle of Puppets, SolaCalculator and Buba all arrive for a handful of pennies or a couple of quid each.

There’s your usual smattering of DLC too, but for PS+ subscribers, today is Instant Game Collection update day. BioShock Infinite and Metro: Last Light come to the PS3 side, while the Vita gets Dynasty Warriors Next and ModNation Racers Road Trip. As mentioned above, PS4 owners can look forward to next week’s release of Outlast.

  1. Haha haha haha haha. Tomb Raider Is £35 in the shops, why on earth would I pay £55 for it? Fools! I thought they’d sorted out their digital pricing somewhat. Clearly not! It’s not even possible to properly game share on ps4 any more!

    • Isn’t it because the UK has the same pricing as the rest of Europe, where that price is actually reasonable for some countries?

      • Updated to £44.99

      • Yup. Fixed it in our post, too.

      • Perhaps that’s been adjusted to suit the UK then, which would be a positive step towards localising the pricing. Amazon.co.uk had it at that price last week, although for some reason the Digipak version with extra stuff was only £40.

  2. How absolutely ridiculous – £55?! All 3 companies need to step back and look at their pricing of e-content its getting beyond a joke. I was looking at Nintendo’s e-store the other night and Wonderful 101 was almost DOUBLE that of a physical copy from Amazon.

Who the fuck is buying digital content at those prices? My brain says someone must be otherwise they’d not charge it.

  3. Not much for me this week (I already own Metro LL and it’s in the pile-o-shame), but that’s ok as Tomb Raider should come this week, and there’s plenty of DLC coming in Feb – The Wolf Among Us in the first week and The Last of Us in the second week. Kinda hoping the last Bioshock DLC will come in the third week of January, and maybe the second episode of The Walking Dead Season 2 after that…plenty of reasons to return to my PS3! :)

    • My PS3 has been seeing a lot more action than the PS4 since I finished AC4. I’ve got such a backlog to get through its unreal! Curse you PS+!

“Luckily” I injured my back in work yesterday so got a few days recovery to make a start lol.

Looking forward to TLOU DLC and TWD Episode 2 too. February can’t come soon enough :-)

      • Same here mate, I have a massive PS3 backlog, of which I’m concentrating on GTA 5 for now, but I can’t wait for TLoU DLC!

Hope the back isn’t giving you too much discomfort, but hope you don’t recover too quickly so you can chip away at the backlog. ;)

  4. Getting really annoyed with the lack of PS4 support. It was clearly released far too early, imo. A load of games couldn’t make the deadline and ended up getting delayed, those that could weren’t finished properly and are full of bugs, the XMB does the bare minimum with very little functionality and there’s still next to nothing coming out over the next few months.

    • Its slightly better than the ps3 launch was. Thats thw joy of being an early adopter. I don’t know why I do it every generation.

      • Slow releases are the only problem with being an early taker… But on the plus side, if you’d waited a year there’d be a backlog of PS4 games you’d want to wade through so at least you’ve had a head start ;-)

That’s what I’m telling myself anyway! I waited over a year to get my PS3 and by then there were easily 15 games I wanted so I’ve always been somewhat behind with new releases… None of that malarkey this gen for me! Lol

  5. Toukiden looks awesome – definitely going to grab the demo (which is apparently 10 hours long) as well as the PS+ stuff.

  6. Time to dust off the ps3. Ps4 is basically used for fifa now which is a shame whereas ps3 has bioshock & final fantasy to sink my teeth into.

    Outlast can’t come quick enough.
