Upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive, The Order: 1886, won’t include online multiplayer according to Ready At Dawn Founder, Andrea Pessino.
The eagerly-anticipated shooter, set in an alternate Victorian London, has recently been in the press spotlight as we -presumably- approach a new announcement.
When questioned on Twitter about the status of multiplayer Pessino stressed that 1886 is a cinematic, third person experience suited for singleplayer. This could well mean that co-op is also off the table despite The Order being centred around four lead characters.
Elsewhere it has also been confirmed that the game will run at 30FPS & 1080p. In an interview with Play3, Ready At Dawn’s Ru Weerasuriya said, “in favour of spectacular effects and the highest resolution we restrict ourselves to a fluid 30 frames per second.”
Will the omission of multiplayer affect your decision to buy 1886? Let us know in the comments below.

The twitter question was specifically about competitive MP, however this interview with a German website also rules out co-op …

play3.de: Who has the last few weeks and months, the availability of information to “The Order 1886” followed, often asked this one question: What is the genre of the new PS4-exclusive title is ever settled
Ru: The title is a third-person action game for single player.
play3.de: In the first overview documents that you have provided to us, but there is talk of a total of four protagonists. If it was not a co-op mode obvious?
Ru: The reason to focus on a squad of four characters is obvious: With “The Order 1886” We want to establish a new brand with its own heroes and personalities. Nevertheless: The player itself controls the time being only one of them: Gallahan.

No MP and no co-op. It works for me. The only cooperative experience I have only enjoyed has been in Dark Souls.
Moonpie
Really gutted that there is no co-op, best fun I’ve had on some games has been with my buddies playing cooperative, Borderlands & Borderlands 2, Lost Planet 2.
TSBonyman
I’m not interested in MP anyway. All indications are that The Order is going to look very impressive indeed, can’t wait to see some footage and find out a bit more about how the game plays.

Maybe this could all be the start of a trend to not go bolting on crappy MP modes to everything? Something we had plenty of with the PS3. (A reason, for instance, why I’ve not got platinum trophies on the Assassin’s Creed games since number 2. They put that shit MP mode in and I really can’t be arsed to play that for hours to get some trophies. Nobody’s going to play that bollocks for fun, are they?)
ArrebatoTarugo
I agree. I trade-in AC4 as soon as I realized that to get the Platinum I had to go through hours of MP.
Moonpie
I always think that MP trophies should be extras and not be required to get a platinum, I’m the same got the Trophy on AC2 but haven’t bothered with the other games.

Is it just me getting sick of all the 30fps / 60fps reports. I have been playing games all my life and if you sat me in front of a 30fps game running smoothly I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.
Personally I’d be more in favour of a guaranteed 30fps as it would free up more resources for flashier graphics than the same game running at 60fps. The PS4 is a beast, these games that are 30fps on XB1 could be phenonomenal at 30fps on PS4.
I hope they do go with coop for the order but if not as long as the story is great and the game is tight with solid controls it should still be fantastic.
ArrebatoTarugo
No, you are not alone. I am sick of 30/60 720/1080 comparisons. I was entertained for a while but its getting ridiculous. I still have no idea about what kind of gameplay the game is going to have. Do we know anything about the rumoured 40min gameplay?
Moonpie
I’m with you on this one. As long as it runs well and looks pretty who really cares if it runs at 30fps or 60fps. The ability is there on the PS4 doesn’t mean they have to use it. Will be disappointed if there is no co-op, will still pick it up but not as an on day of release if it’s only single player
bunimomike
Thankfully, the majority don’t care either but fanboys love to argue like hell about it which means media sites will report on it knowing that it’s “news” to them and will also drive in huge numbers of hits.
However, I’m with you guys on this. Cannot stand the bickering that ensues. Sure, knowing certain things about multi-platform games is fun/informative but the shit that then unfolds is utterly abysmal to witness.

you can’t tell the difference between 30fps and 60fps? Wow. I wish I couldn’t!
gazzagb
Lack of MP doesn’t bother me (although co-op would have been nice), however ditching 60fps in favour of 1080p has put me off a tad, especially if it’s just going to be a dreary grey world like what we’ve seen so far.
Steelhead
I rarely play multiplayer so really this is a plus for me, with more time and resources being spent on the single player.
arrybags
Brilliant news. I don’t really like multiplayer. So maybe I have a chance at getting a platinum.
JR.
Shame about the 30fps. A real shame in fact. But not having crappy MP tacked on more than makes up for it.
