PlayStation Store Update: 12/02/14 – TxK, Left Behind & Lightning Returns

Welcome to the Valentine’s Day Multimedia Bonanza, in which practically everyone has decided to capitalise on both couples and singles in some way or another. Whether it’s themed DLC, a new series of a major TV series or just a quirky fluke, everyone’s at it.

Headlining for many PS3 owners this week is The Last of Us’ single player DLC, Left Behind, set to hit the store on Friday and follow Ellie through some events occurring prior to the main game’s central plot. It’s currently up for pre-order at £11.99/€14.99 or part of the Season Pass.

With slightly more circumstantial timing, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will reach the EU’s digital shelves on Friday for £39.99/€59.99 – also currently available as a pre-order – and will round off Lightning’s story in the final part of the trilogy. Many of you will like to pick up the free Japanese voice pack for this game.

The Lego Movie Videogame will bring brick-smashingly good fun to PS Vita (£34.99/€39.99), PS3 (£39.99/€49.99) and PS4 (£44.99/€59.99) on Friday. There’s no pre-order up for this one, but it will be this week’s only new PS4 game.

Thankfully, not everything is coming out on Friday, and if you’re after something to play today you can grab Far Cry Classic on PS3 for £7.99/€9.99 through Trial & Unlock, which gives the original Far Cry game a graphical spit and polish. Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES also gets a £7.99/€9.99 release, as a PS2 Classics release.

There’s also the Borderlands 2 Wedding Day Massacre DLC which, despite the V-Day theme, is out today for £1.99/€2.49.

Finally for the PS3, you can get a sneak peak of the upcoming Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 and sample a bit of Oddworld: Strangers Wrath HD, as both get demos.

Heading to the PS Vita, Jeff Minter is back with a neo-retro bang and TxK. Vector-graphics are all over the shop, as it follows on from the genre which he helped to create with Tempest 2000. It will put you back £5.49/€6.99, with a 20% discount to £4.39 for PS+ subscribers.

Toukiden: The Age of Demons then brings Monster Hunter-esque gaming to the Vita, but this is releasing on Friday with a pre-order price of £29.99/€39.99. Alongside that, Danganronpa Trigger Happy Havoc should appear on the store on Friday, looks absolutely bonkers, and will cost £34.99/€39.99.

Finally, and for the PS4, you can grab the Headset Companion App that will enable the audio profiles for Sony’s PlayStation headsets. My understanding is that game specific profiles won’t be added to it for a while.

We’ll revisit this post and update it later this afternoon, as we’re still waiting on the EU PlayStation Blog to post the more comprehensive list of additions and also for the New This Week page to fully update.

Update: Added in The Lego Movie Videogame, Danganronpa, Stranger’s Wrath Demo, prices in Euros and probably some other things too.

  1. Txk for me. I always loved a bit of Tempest.

  2. TxK! I know I’m going to be really bad at it and yet, I can’t wait!

    • It’s going to be awesome! I loved Tempest 2000 on the Jaguar, and Space Giraffe too!

  3. LoS demo for me, hoping its as good as the first.

  4. And a demo for Stranger’s Wrath… ;)

    • Yep. :)

Just caught that, Lego Movie and Danganronpa as I updated the post from the finalised PS Blog list.

  5. I’ll try the Far Cry demo/trial, grab the PS4 headset app thingy, and clock-watch until Friday for The Last of Us DLC!!

I was still making use of the Feb sale and picked up Mickey’s Castle of Illusion to play with my son, and Enslaved for me! :)

  6. Just the Far Cry classic demo for me, i would pick up TxK if it was on PS3 or PS4.

  7. TxK needs a PS4 version. Except letting Minter near a PS4 could be dangerous. It could end up melting your eyeballs.

Vita version seems fun so far. Starts out simple enough, then quickly gets a bit mad. (Level 15, I think, called “Lemon Curry” was causing me some trouble). Barely time to get used to how it plays before it’s throwing lots of stuff at you. I guess you need to learn how to get good at it quite quickly. (So far I suspect “tap the screen to destroy lots of stuff at the start of the level, until you get the jump powerup” could be a handy tactic)

I can see myself playing it quite a lot in the odd 5 minutes here and there. Which really isn’t how to play that sort of thing. You need to stare at it for hours to really get into the flow of things.

  8. TxK

  9. Last of Us DLC for me! Bought the season pass from Amazon for £14 so I’m playing the multiplayer whilst I’m waiting for the single player!

  10. TxK is awesome, well worth the price of admission! I’m hoping that it’s going to be PSVTV compatible, it defo needs to be on a big screen! Anyone know if it’s gonna appear on the HK PSN soon??
