Plus Point Challenge: Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition

After two months of competition in TSA’s Plus Points Challenge, the leaderboard is hotting up. We’ve seen X1BALBAABLAB1X  take top spot in the first challenge with his amazingly high score in Resogun, then Theberzerka win the second round with his hilarious entry for the Don’t Starve caption contest. Lieutenant Fatman leads the overall leaderboard at this stage with 14 points, though competition is still high and there’s plenty of chance for anyone to take the lead!

This month, the attention shifts to Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition on PS4. The challenge is simple, gain the highest possible score on the first level (The Beginning) of Dead Nation. You don’t need to have entered any of the previous rounds to enter this one, it’s open to anyone, full rules below:

  • Complete the first mission of Dead Nation on PS4 in single player. The mission is called “The Beginning”.
  • On the mission completion screen, press the share button on your DualShock 4.
  • Tweet the image of the mission completion screen to @thesixthaxis, making sure you include your TSA username.
  • Top score will get 10 leaderboard points, 2nd 9 points, 3rd 8 points and so on. Everybody who enters will receive 1 leaderboard point.
  • There is no restriction on the difficulty level you choose to play with. It may be best to unlock the highest difficulty levels first, then use that to go for the highest score.
  • There are no restrictions on the number of times a person can enter this competition, though please don’t spam us with entries! Each person’s best score will count.
  • Only PS4 entries will be accepted, as we cannot verify screenshots from other platforms.
  • The competition will close at 6PM BST on Sunday the 30th of March.

Your screenshot should look a lot like the one below (though hopefully with a much better score).

Every person who enters this month’s contest will be entered into a random prize draw and one lucky TSA member will win a £10 (or $10) PSN voucher thanks to the gods of random.org. And there’s also the chance to win a year’s PS+ subscription for the first person to fifty points on the leaderboard.

Be warned, at the time of writing the PS4 Dead Nation leaderboards are playing up and will not display any data at all. This may make it difficult for you to check your attempts against your friends, but you can still enter by sharing the level complete screen.

Bonus points contest – speed run

There will be 5 leaderboard points available for the TSA member who submits the fastest time for completion of the first level. You can enter both this and the main high score contest, though nobody who finishes in the top 10 for the main contest will be considered for the fastest time contest. You should enter this as in the same way as the high score challenge.

So, get out your best weapons and get zombie slaying, though don’t forget to share those mission complete screens! As always, your comments below are most welcome.

  1. Game on! I kind of wish u wasn’t organising these so I could enter, though I’m equally happy witnessing the competition amongst you all.
    Good luck!

  2. Excellent stuff, really liking this series of TSA challenges. I’ll give this a go over the weekend.

  3. I’ll try to enter this month. I completely forgot on the Sunday of last month. Although I’m not that keen on Dead nation. It just doesn’t gel with me.

  4. Will it be possible to submit a local co-op game score or is this just for a single player run? Spend a lot more time playing it with my girlfriend than solo. :-)

    • Single player only, so the scores are fair. Will update post.

  5. Wait a sec, so if I enter the main comp and get in the top ten (not likely), I can’t also get points for getting the fastest speed run?

    • That’s correct. The main competition is the high score. The bonus contest is only really there for the people who aren’t doing well enough in the main contest to get good points, so they’ve still got something to play for.

    • I should have added you’re free to enter both, but only those who only scored 1 point in the main contest will be considered for the bonus points.

      • Ok thanks for clarifying that :)

      • sooooo. if for instance i rank at 9. i will get 2 points if i rank at 10 i will get 1 point but as im in the top ten i would not be considerd for the speed run?? am i getting this right??

  6. I wish I was better at this game. I don’t stand a chance so I’m out unfortunately

    • Still enter. Go for the speed run maybe? Either way just by entering you’ll get 1 leaderboard point moving you a little closer to the 50 points needed to be champion!

    • Plus, the chance to win a PSN voucher just by entering – you can’t be bad at random decisions!

  7. Nice. Have already killed R1 on one controller playing this. Need to stop hogging the assault rifle, I reckon.

  8. Awesome! On this for sure.

  9. Posted a couple of scores now. Sticking #tsadeadnation as well as @thesixthaxis with them to make them easy to find on Twitter.

  10. Will have a bash at this, although I don’t think I’ve ever got off the first level!!

    • At least you’ve played it, I’ve never played a Dead Nation game before and I’m really crap at shooters.
