Check Out The Features Of SHAREfactory In This New Video

Sony have released a new video for the annoyingly capitalised SHAREfactory which will be part of the forthcoming PlayStation 4 1.7 update.

“We thought it would be really cool to show off a project that was edited in our offices that show off a number of features in the application,” explained SHAREfactory senior producer Stuart Platt .”We are really excited to see what PlayStation fans will create and share once SHAREfactory is released. We hope you like it!”

The video shows how to add text, stickers and video commentary and lots of other things I can’t be bothered explaining as  it’s sunny outside and I want to go to the pub.

  1. I’ll tell you what would be really cool, is if the record function actually worked properly before adding this feature

    • Worked in what way? It records doesn’t it?

      • Nope, quite often I press Share once (to save the previous 15 mins), and whilst it has a thumbnail of the current/correct time, it has recorded any random number of minutes of footage up to 15 since turning on my PS4. For example I had a decent game of Shadow Fall the other day, pressed Share at the end of the match, and it had recorded 8 minutes of the previous match on a different map! Also on CoD Extinction I can play a round for over an hour, at the end I press Share to save the last 15 minutes, yet it records the first 5 minutes from over an hour ago. Very odd and annoying.

Even my double-pressing Share it doesn’t always manually recorded the subsequent 15 minutes as it should. It’s not an isolated incident either, lots of people have had the same and it’s frustrating since it was supposed to be a launch feature.

    • Agreed, the recording function needs some tweaking as it only sometimes works the way you expect it to.

    • This is being looked into. I finally got a response (via Twitter) after pestering various people about it. The lack of feedback/support over at the forums (eu official) was annoying me more than the broken feature.

“@SuperFastZombie: @AblabixxibalbA No ETA but this is been worked on. I have a open job ticket on this issue so will update the thread soon as I have info”

      • Oh cool, thanks for the heads-up! Annoying the problem hasn’t been sorted before though.

  2. I used to use the EyeCreate app a lot on PS3, putting down rough little guitar melodies etc., so it would be neat if SHAREfactory allowed me to do the same on PS4 and isn’t just tied to shared game media.
Either way i’m looking forward to trying out.

  3. Is someone due a trip to the clinic?

  4. Am sorry it is just more rubbish before they have the initial stuff in place!

Unless 1.7 has 3D BR and CD playback along with all the other PS3 features that were great but are missing then it is pointless!

As mentioned already, the record function does not work correctly as it is!

  5. Hold on guys, after reading these comments I’m a bit confused as to how the share ‘recording’ process works.
I thought it started recording once you push the share button but sounds like I’m wrong. Does it record, then save a recording once you push share?
I looked in the vid/pic save section the other day & found a 12min video of some girl I know & me trying out the Playroom app. We had no idea it was recording which gave me a couple of ‘sneaky’ ideas lol

    • Press Share once and it should save your last 15 minutes of footage. Alternatively you can double-tap the Share button and it will record the next 15 minutes that you play.

Holding the Share button takes a photo.

Also, if you press Share from the XMB, then press Options – you get to further settings – which for some odd reason aren’t in the Settings section of the XMB.

      • Ah, cheers dude.
Well I don’t normally use stuff like this but it will be handy to make a FIFA video or something of ‘Dave’s Best Goals’ or a BF4 video I can send friends of me taking their Dogtags if they’re on the other team.

      • Just to add to what Youles has said, I believe double tapping the share button to record allows you to record for as long as you want (until you press the share button to end it), assuming that you keep the PS4 turned on and have enough hard drive space. That way it isn’t capped to 15 minutes. That is as far as I’m aware anyway.

  6. Cool feature but the video did little to highlight exactly what the improved video sharing will feature.

Did I read somewhere that the new update will allow in-game footage to be recorded to a USB stick? If so, that would be mental.

    • Yep. USB support is coming. That should lead to YouTube sharing. Good times.

  7. CRINGEfactory my GOD!

    • I like the look of it – going from the original trailer – but this video was pure cringeworthy.

  8. “PWND” – what an awesome relevant sticker. Really improved the video.
