(Updated)PlayStation Network Suffers Another Outage, Sony Aware Of Problem & Trying To Fix It

Update: The official accounts of PlayStation are now stating that network capabilities are being restored to the entire network, so you should in theory be able to sign in on all your capable PlayStation devices.

Original Story:

If, like me, you’ve been trying to access the PlayStation Network this afternoon then you may have been greeted with the message that it was undergoing maintenance. However, this is not the case but instead PSN is down for an as of yet unknown reason, and Sony are trying to resolve the issues as quickly as possible

This outage comes just a couple of days after the service suffered a large scale DDoS attack which saw PSN being down for the majority of Sunday. It’s unclear whether this is another such attack or if this is a case of something going wrong at the source. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.

  3. Just to let people know even though the PS4 isn’t signing into the network the PS3 is working just fine, the Vita is also working just fine so seems to just be PS4 at the moment, anyone know what the PS3 update that auto downloaded last night does my guess just the odd tinker/stability.

    • “a minor optional update that improves stability during the use of some features”. Thats what i have read.

      • Cheers didn’t think it would be anything major as there was no word of it on here.

  4. Seems to be working fine again from here (nld)

    • Yep it does indeed seem to have been resuscitated :)

  5. should this sort of stuff happen after we all now have to pay for P+ to play online? Has this ever happened to Microsoft network? I honestly don’t know.

    • Whilst I share your viewpoint on the fact that we now effectively pay for online, this did come a couple of days after a DDoS attack on PSN, so I suspect its to be expected somewhat.

Plus it was in the afternoon when people are supposed to be at work, so much better than their usual maintenance periods! ;)
