Evolution has announced that the PlayStation Plus edition of Driveclub has been delayed, with the main reason being problems with the servers. If you have bought the Plus upgrade of Driveclub then you will be able to download and play the game, albeit it’ll just be the single player portion. The servers have been suffering since yesterday when the game launched in North America. There’s no indication of when the Plus edition of Driveclub will go live yet. The companion app is also unavailable.
In order to help all DRIVECLUB players who have the game already, we’re temporarily holding back the PS Plus Edition and the My DRIVECLUB app to ease the load and traffic to the servers. This should give players a better chance of connecting to the game servers and, once the servers are operating well, we’ll be sure to let you know when the PS Plus Edition and My DRIVECLUB app will be available to download.
It’s definitely bad news for players and Evolution, especially since Driveclub has been a game many have been waiting for since its announcement. Of course we’ll keep you updated as soon as we hear anything new.

I think the issue must be more widespread than just the DriveClub servers, for a coulpe of hours last night i couldn’t sign into psn and when i eventually managed to it still wouldn’t load my friends list.

Coincidentally I switch on automatic wallet funding to pay for my preorder upgrade for Driveclub.
My PS Plus was due for renewal today. They have renewed me for three years and charged me £120. I have no idea why. Recommend you all switch off automatic funding.

I got charged twice last year. My own fault as didn’t think it went through and didn’t think you could continually buy year after year. I was mistaken, a quick call got me a refund though if you need the money back

Now that I’ve switched off automatic funding to stop constantly being charged, I’ve got an email saying my plus subscription has been terminated due to a “payment failure”. This, despite already taking £160 from my credit card.

I’m sure CallOfDylan would tell you that your problems with PS Plus renewal is some kind of ploy or devious attempt at a military coup by his friends at Microsoft :o)

But this doesn’t make any difference in the UK, surely? We get it on Friday. The store is saying Friday for the full version, and for the cheap upgrade. If you want to get a physical copy, it’s Friday. The PS+ blog update last week said “8th/10th” for the PS+ version, which presumably means 10th in the UK (to match the full game) and 8th in the rest of Europe.
So if you’re in the UK, it makes no difference. So far. We’ll see what happens on Friday.

Original delay, yesterday’s reviews that summed up for me that it’s not exactly revolutionary in the racing scene and now this mean Driveclub will be one of a very small list of PS+ games that I don’t even bother downloading…

I’d recommend trying it for free at least! There’s only so much that can go wrong with a racing game. You drive very fast cars along nice roads and try to come first. They delivered on that front.
