Far Cry 4’s creative director Alex Hutchinson has confirmed on Twitter that multiplayer is for everyone who buys FC4. “Just so it’s clear: Multiplayer is for everyone who buys FC4, no need to buy anything else,” Hutchinson said, “There is an extra mode in DLC”.
The extra mode he mentions is included with the season pass, but it was not previously clear whether other modes would be available to everyone purchasing the game. There had been worries among some gamers that the PvP (player vs player) portion might be locked behind this DLC, reminiscent of last generation’s online passes.
While that may sound like an absurd business decision, the fact he only referred to multiplayer being available to everybody – which could just mean the online co-op – and didn’t mention competitive multiplayer was quite vague to say the least. Thankfully, a further tweet has explained that core PvP is available for everyone and this mode will be developed after the game ships:
@aCrazayBlackGuy Core PvP is for everyone. We're going to build an extra mode, after we ship, for PvP that will be part of the DLC.
