The Assassin’s Creed Unity Patch Is 6.4gb

Ubisoft have announced the delayed Assassin’s Creed Unity patch will be available today on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with the PC version following later this week. The file is a whopping 6.7gb (almost 18% of the entire game) which is bound to annoy those with slow or capped broadband.

“Part of the team’s effort to enhance frame rate for players involves replacing and updating portions of the Paris city map where we are seeing issues,” posted Ubisoft. “This explains the large size of this title update (6.7 GB). However, since a large portion of the patch replaces existing files the net increase to the game’s overall size will be less than 6.7 GB. ”

However, Xbox One owners should NOT download the patch at the moment as the patch itself is borked.

We have received and confirmed reports that some Xbox One players who have previously applied Patch 3 are seeing a 40GB download instead of the expected 6.7GB download. Unfortunately, an issue with the patch downloading process is replacing the entire game instead of just the parts affected by the patch. This is obviously not the expected behavior, and we apologize that many of you will have to wait longer than expected to complete this download.

Five weeks after launch, Assassin’s Creed Unity be coming up to scratch, here are the full patch notes.

  1. In my mind this game was delayed and is still in development. ‘Release day’ will be when we have confirmation that the game runs flawlessly. Should be less than half price by then too. Win.

Next years AC pre-orders will definitely take a hit after this mess.

    • That is a very positive approach. Poor beta testers.

      • I do feel bad for the people who bought this game on release day but if this gen has taught me anything, it’s not to pre-order or buy games on day one. AC Unity isn’t the only unfinished game to be released this year and I’m sure it wont be the last.

Strangely, considering AC Rogue was released as a recycled cash grab for the last gen lingerers, it’s probably the least buggy AC game I’ve played. You’d think they would have concentrated all their efforts and resources on the new game.

      • In my mind it probably has something to do with the game engine they’re using, and the features they’ve been tinkering around with- it’s unproven (and not enough QA testing?!).

AC Rogue will be using / re-using what Black Flag ran on (and it ran flawlessly!). Also, Black Flag was developed on PS3 first before being ported to PS4.

    • I actually plan to wait for it to get on PSN plus… I think all of them up until III were on plus so far…
Or at least, it has to be in a very good sale at some point for me to buy it.

    • I’ll consider next years re-release, the “game of the year”-edition, to be the final product. With all the DLC and patches done. If there’ll be such a thing. If not, I don’t mind skipping this entry.

  2. I think Ubisoft need to give the series a break next year and have an actually finished game ready for 2016.

  3. The patch is broken? Couldn’t make this stuff up!

    • The game is broken and the patch doesn’t fix it and the workaround doesn’t work.

      • Alien Isolation all over again…

  4. Ubifucked

  5. that’s over 10% of my monthly download cap

question : will discs produced after the patch have the patch already on or does everyone have to patch via internet ?

    • Nah you’ll have to patch, they wont make new discs.

      • GOTY discs will be patched though hopefully! Might as well wait for that.

  6. I’m getting my copy of AC:Unity for Christmas. By the time it’s downloaded, installed and updated it’ll be 2015!!!

  7. Did I miss Christmas and skip straight to April 1st?

This is Ubisoft’s idea of a joke, right?

I’d suspect Tuffcub here but his joke articles are usually funny.

  8. As I said before, I completed Unity and experienced next to no issues whatsoever. In fact I’ve noticed more in Far Cry 4! Either way, Ubisoft have definitely done their best to rectify all the Internet uproar with these patches, and not forgetting the free dlc and new game (for season pass holders). I think everyone should give them a break, especially those who HAVEN’T EVEN PLAYED THE BLOODY GAME!!!!!
