Community Round-Up: 18/01/15

The weather has seemingly taken a dive this week, as temperatures have plummeted and the news is awash with weather warnings. I guess 2015 is trying to make up for the fact 2014 was the hottest year on record by balancing it out with extra rain and snow.

Anyway, enough of me complaining about the weather, let’s focus on TSA now for this week’s Community Round-Up!

The Meets returned this week with a spot of Battlefield on Friday, perhaps if we’re lucky we’ll see the usual GT5 on Monday and midweek Red Dead meets too.

If you’d rather play something else, you can add your own Meet to the list, provided you have more than 250 TSA Points.

We had a couple of Reviews that popped up this week, the first was from guest writer Ewan Moore who reviewed Adventure Time: The Secret of the Nameless Kingdom. He gave it a 6/10, calling it “disappointingly short”, although noted that fans of the TV series or of the Zelda games will find fun within the cheap title. Far Cry 4’s Escape From Durgesh Prison DLC was also recently released and Blair gave his thoughts on the DLC. The 30 minute time limit and permadeath adds new elements to the world, but it’s not enough for the asking price of £7.99, which he thinks is a bit steep.

From the Previews, Matt shared his thoughts on the Halo 5: Guardians Beta and how 343 are speeding up Halo’s gameplay, yet in a way that existing fans should still enjoy. If they can sort out a few matchmaking issues, then Halo 5 will certainly be one to keep an eye on. Blair also had a look at Majora’s Mask, the sequel to his favourite game of all time, and how the remake feels perfectly at home on the 3DS.

Aran had a quick look at Joe Danger 2: The Movie and how it well its suited to Vita, while Jim required a few changes of pants for his experience with Five Nights At Freddy’s.

From the Community articles, the Chronicle returned with discussion about sales figures, PSN downtime and that ugly PS4 hard drive add on we saw at CES. Destiny saw a marmite Verdict, with some of you hating the repetitive gameplay as others loved the cooperative MMO aspect. Let’s see if FIFA 15 can do better in this week’s WeView, although it’s not off to a great start!

A small flood of Blogs appeared on TSA this week, beginning with Blair talking about why publishers shouldn’t focus so much on November in the release calendar. Peter wrote about the lure of our favourite games and why we can’t escape them, as Stefan explored what’s in store for Nintendo, as they kick off 2015 with the release of the New 3DS. Lastly, Jim shared his thoughts on why the perfect time for a new Warhammer game is now.

To end the articles of the week, What We Played #186 featured the likes of Don’t Starve, Sunset Overdrive, and Assassin’s Creed.

Let’s grab the keys to the Forum, and take a look who’s around this week:

  • Carrot381 asks, is gaming a sport? (No, it won’t count towards your new year’s resolution to do more exercise!)
  • And JustTaylorNow announces he’s packing his bags and his heading off back to the old generation, after becoming disappointed with the new one

Well that’s your lot for this week, so until next time, bye!
