Konami have uncovered a bug in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain that could corrupt your save file for the game. The bug appears to be in all versions of the game on all platforms.
In “METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN” which was released on September 1st 2015, there is a possibility that save data may get corrupted and becomes unusable if having Quiet as a buddy while playing “Mission 29” or “Mission 42”. This situation can be avoided by not using Quiet as a buddy while playing either “Mission 29” or “Mission 42”.
We deeply apologize, and appreciate your patience for further announcements regarding this issue.
This issue is known to be present for Xbox360, XboxOne, PlayStation®3, PlayStation®4 and Steam®.
The news may come too late for some, our own Blair has just finished mission 29 with Quiet as the companion.

Bugger, that’s an awkward one! Good thing I’ve been smashing the hell out of FOBs today otherwise I could’ve been on 29 and it’s very likely I’d be using Quiet. Backup time.

I need to start making backups by the looks of things. I was only thinking the other day, how smoothly mgs5 launched. I’m only on mission 6 (haven’t had much chance to play it) so I’m good for now, hopefully it’ll be fixed by the time I get there.

Goddammit! It was a good thing I had already restarted today due to me feeling that I wasn’t playing it properly but I would have been pissed if I had lost 30-40 hours because of a bug.

Hmm, glad I neglected Quiet until after I’d completed the game. Wouldn’t be happy if my 77 hour save was knackered!

Played through mission 29 with Quiet and didn’t get that error. Than again, I haven’t restarted my console yet so I may be welcomed by an unfortunate surprise eventually!
