Yesterday at Sony’s Paris Games Week press conference, developer Naughty Dog took to the stage to premiere Uncharted 4’s online multiplayer. Although fairly short, the debut trailer did a great job in teasing several new features while also showing off a number of returning playable characters.
Instead of giving you a drip feed of details, here’s everything we know about Uncharted 4’s multiplayer so far:
- As in the story campaign, multiplayer will feature vehicles. Naughty Dog has confirmed, however, that these won’t be available at launch.
- Naughty Dog is aiming for 900p at 60 frames per second. Singleplayer will still be 1080/30.
- Micro transactions will be there from the onset, allowing players a faster way to unlock gear and upgrades.
- Naughty Dog is “shooting for” eight maps at launch. None of these are UC2/UC3 remakes.
- Maps will have plenty of cover points and vertical terrain. This allows players to make use of Uncharted 4’s grappling hook.
- Players can call in AI partners to help them out. The three sidekicks we saw include a medic, sniper, and melee fighter. There’s also a minigun-wielding Brute.
- Uncharted 4 will also feature a new spread of supernatural “Mystic” abilities. These include a deployable El Dorado statue and a Djinn-like teleport.
- The first beta for Uncharted 4 will commence on December 4th, ending on the 13th. Note that this is only available to those who own a copy of The Nathan Drake Collection on PlayStation 4.
Uncharted 4’s multiplayer also sees the introduction/return of several notable characters. This list will likely grow closer to the game’s launch next March:
- Nathan Drake
- Victor “Sully” Sullivan
- Sam Drake
- Elena Fisher
- Chloe Frazer
- Charlie Cutter
- Harry Flynn
- Eddie Raja
- Zoran Lazarevic
- Rameses
With Stefan currently prowling the show floor at PGW we’ll surely hear a bit more about Uncharted 4 in the coming days.

It looks fun and a bit mad with the powerups, now we just need to see some proper gameplay.
