Star Citizen’s Alpha 2.0 Trailer Blends Ship Combat, FPS And EVA Exploration

Star Citizen is nothing if not ambitious, as the huge crowdfunding success has given Chris Roberts and Cloud Imperium Games the ability to basically do whatever the hell they want, including hiring an all star cast of actor to feature in the Squadron 42 solo and co-op campaign.

Since the game is modular, parts of Alpha 2.0 is now in the hands of select backers and testers, with a trailer from The Game Awards showcasing some of its new and upcoming features. It includes new flight modes for flying around in space, but also add first and third person play for those that want to venture outside the cockpit, with plenty of guns being fired and a bit of EVA exploration in zero-G.

Of course, as an alpha, this is still very much a work in progress, but it shows where the game is heading, with plenty more still to be shown. The game’s full release is currently planned for 2016, and only on PC.
