According to the PlayStation blog, Don’t Starve Together began as “Don’t Starve you could play with your friends.” It’s the same Don’t Starve mechanics but with added challenges and events, and the welcome addition of split screen on PlayStation 4.
The game will be a standalone product rather than DLC for the original game and will include the Reign of Giants, as well private servers and the chance to play with randoms online.
No price or release date has been given.

Great news. I enjoyed the original on PS3 and the wife loves it.
Have just moved a double seater into the front room with the ps4 as we’ve been spending a lot of time on Divinity co op. This will do nicely
