Community Round-Up: 16/07/16

After last weekend’s plethora of sporting events, this weekend is looking more subdued. Perhaps you will use this to your advantage though, and get some gaming time in? As we are settling into the lull of Summer releases, are there any games in your backlog you’re going to try to tackle?

Let me know in the comments, but not before you’ve read this week’s Community Round-Up!

Taking a look at this week’s reviews, in first place we had Monster Hunter Generations for Nintendo 3DS. Giving it an 8/10, Jim enjoyed it saying that there’s “plenty of new content and features to explore”, while he described the multiplayer as “astounding”.

Our next review was for Crush Your Enemies, which fell on a 7/10. If you fancy a fast paced RTS, then look no further as it does a good job of bringing the genre to mobile – although Stefan noted PC players might be a tad disappointed with the controls. Meanwhile, and also on a 7/10 was JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Eyes of Heaven, which Dave believes manga or anime fans could have a good time with.

Our last review was for Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness. For Dom, the game sadly didn’t live up to it’s expectations as he gave it a 5/10 and called it “pure mediocrity”.

Over on at the previews, Stefan got to grips with Battlefield 1, and he was also pleasantly surprised by Human Fall Flat. This physics-based puzzler offers something more than the ‘silly simulators’ we’ve seen recently, with it releasing on PC next week and consoles later this year. His last preview was for Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past, the upcoming 3DS remake of the classic JRPG.

Readers looking for a local multiplayer game might want to check out Overcooked, a cooking puzzle game that looks great fun. The omission of online multiplayer is a shame, but the simple controls and funny gameplay should make up for that.

Elsewhere, Mobile Watch took a look at Dawnbringers, a cross between Warcraft and Infinity Blade for iOS and Android. Jake looked back over how platforming games have evolved on Playstation, while Stefan looked at the highs and lows of playing Pokémon Go. Meanwhile, this week’s Open Forum asked, what games have you played most in 2016?

Finishing up, the Chronicle looked at No Man’s Sky going gold and Evolve’s entry into F2P. Lastly, What We Played #262 featured Pokémon Go, The Order: 1886 & Kitten Squad.

Alas, nothing new and exciting happened in the forums this week, so until next time have a good week and goodbye!

  1. I blame GAzzagb for the state of the forums. Ever since he took over Roundup duty, it’s been deader then the crew of Red Dwarf.

And BBC, you can put all the music you want in but golf will always always always be boring to watch. I mean, it’s golf. The most boring thing to watch. Also, stop showing golf. Put something good on instead.

Also, it was me that spiked the TSA summer punch! It was me all along, Gazzagb!

Yeah, i may just be posting shit because i want to spark some banter.

    • Golf can be interesting to watch (I love the Ryder Cup), but yeah, it’s super boring 99% of the time.

    • It’s what goes on in the background with golf that makes it interesting, shenanigans a’ plenty. Most of the players can’t keep their plus fours on past hole 8, although a hole in one is a rarity.com :P

  2. Apparently some unique pokemon have been spotted in the forums. Just post a non-pokemon-related thread or comment in the forums and wait for the magic to happen!

    • If only there were Pokemon in the forums…
