The Final Demo Update For Resident Evil 7 Lets You Play In PSVR

Resident Evil 7 really isn’t all that far away, with a release date of January 24th, but at PSX Capcom announced and released a big new update for the game’s demo. You’ve been able to play the demo since the game’s surprise announcement at E3, but there’s plenty of reasons to return.

For one thing, the ‘Midnight’ update adds new areas to explore, but there’s also wider hardware support. There’s a number of improvements for those of you with PS4 Pro, but this will also be the first time that you, the great unwashed masses at home will be able to play the game on PSVR.

Finally, when the game is released, PlayStation players – I nearly wrote “PlaySatan” just then, which I find rather fitting – will be able to get their hands on the “Banned Footage” DLC before anyone else.

  1. I suppose the PSVR experience will come devoid of any comfort settings, just to maximise the horror of the experience?

  2. Hopeful this is actually going to be decent after the terrible RE6. Getting Hills Have Eyes / Texas Chainsaw Massacre-ish vibes.

  3. So I can play the whole demo on VR is that what you saying?

  4. Absolutely terrifying with PSVR.

  5. Looking forward to that…! :o)
But as it’s an update, it hasn’t downloaded yet, and I’m not sure you have any control over that yourself. Well, I could delete it and redownload, if it doesn’t update by itself. But I’ll probably see the usual storage error anyway.
