I was all ready to have a rant about it being the weekend and having to work, but instead I’m going to talk about how amazing Middle-earth: Shadow of War looks. I’m a huge Tolkien fan – I wrote my dissertation on his novel’s influence on the fantasy genre – but the video game renditions haven’t really captured my attention in the past. Even Shadow of Mordor wore thin towards the end, despite being a lot of fun at times, but watching some gameplay footage it looks as though Shadow of War is building system upon system on the Mordor framework. It’s definitely looking like it’ll be a highlight later in the year.
Besides watching videos, I’ve been hammering through NieR: Automata, which is a wonderful entry in the action-JRPG mould, while sneaking in time with Zelda, Bomberman R, Fast RMX, King Of Fighters ’98 and VOEZ on the Nintendo Switch. The ability to pick it up for ten minutes combined with a super fast wake up time, is making it absolutely perfect to fit in amidst a busy day, and it really does have the potential to be a winner for the company.
Tuffcub is loving Horizon Zero Dawn, to the point that he says it’s the best game he’s played for a good few years. Besides that he’s been playing Dying Reborn on PSVR and cracking on with the FlatOut 4 review. Aran meanwhile has been splitting his time between Gravity Rush 2, which took a bit of getting used to, and Ghost Recon Wildlands, which is his new favourite multiplayer experience of 2017.
Jake has mostly been playing Horizon, but since he picked up his Switch a couple days ago, Zelda is now stealing all of his time. Steve finished up his Memoranda review, along with going for some Future Unfolding, Jak 2 on Vita and Uncharted 4 as well, which he had to get on with so there’s space on his hard drive for Horizon! Miguel has been hit by a blackout, so he’s not been able to play more than a couple of hours of NieR: Automata, He’s only had time for Atelier Firis, anyway.
Dave has had a huge week of gaming;
There were tons of Switch games. Snipperclips provided some entertainment while I had the brother-in-law and his firlfriend round. I ploughed through Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment, despite the American spelling, and the rest of Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove, before working my way through four Neo Geo arcade games (World Heroes Perfect, KoF 98, Waku Waku 7, and Shock Troopers). I then pushed myself to complete the latest Deus Ex Mankind Divided DLC.
I haven’t even touched Zelda yet and I Personally don’t expect to do so until after reviewing a certain RPG .
Tef’s continued his journeys in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, as well as reviewing Fast RMX on Switch, but he’s not been completely consumed by those games. He caught us up on his impressions from Dawn of War III’s multiplayer, went to see Middle-earth: Shadow of War and went hands on with a game he knew practically nothing about: Dragon Quest Heroes II.
Finally it’s over to Jim who’s also had a very good week gaming-wise;
This week I finally polished off The Witcher III. It’s a relief to rub such a big massive game off my to-do list. Going back, I didn’t enjoy it quite as much as I originally did when beating the main story. I can’t exactly put my finger on why, but the same thing happened with Dragon Age: Inquisition.
Apart from that I’ve been dipping in and out of For Honor. It’s a fantastic multiplayer game though one I’m keeping a distance from until Ubisoft can start to iron out some of its networking issues.
There was some Ghost Recon Wildlands in there too, which I’ve been playing with Tef and Aran.
Oh, and Zelda. A [flipping lot]Â of Zelda.
Now then, what have you played?

Crazy_Del
Well we to start…. last Saturday been playing Sniper Elite 4 Overwatch with Youles and got the Platinum by completing it and getting all collectibles. (Credit goes towards Youles for the collectibles, as he did like 90% of the work)
Played For Honor daily to complete Contracts and Orders and a few matches with Tony and Roy. One night it was a really bad night for me and Tony on Duels and it will never be mentioned ever…..
Also helped out Pixel on Sniper Elite 4 Overwatch during the week.
Started Ghost Recon Wildlands on Thursday and I am loving it…. Although the collectibles is a chore that is for sure. So decided to do one area at a time for missions and collectibles then jump on For Honor.
That is all….
As you were….
*loads up For Honor*
FOR HONOUR!!!!

It’s all about Horizon for me! I’ve fallen into the trap of delving into the periphery and have forgotten about the story. It’s just amazing fun chasing foxes across the gorgeous landscape and smacking them with the staf, and also scaling mountains to take sexy scenic screenshots. I’m useless at battles, I think I need to invest some time in upgrading and crafting, I feel like all I do is shoot endless fire arrows. Much more fineness required.

Instead of tackling my burgeoning backlog like a smart person might, I’ve started another play through of Witcher 3, this time on Death March difficulty and I’m falling in love with it all over again.

This week it’s been nothing but No Man’s Sky, both before and after the pathfinder update. I’ve started a new game so all my stats are reset but i’m enjoying the sense of progress that comes with unlocking the milestones again. And the new update is pleasing in so many ways, providing 3 new vehicles, a curious new plant to farm called NipNip – “a medicinal herb with pungent buds”, a brilliant photo mode and lot’s of other improvements and changes both under the hood and to the general gameplay mechanics and interactions. It’s made enjoying the game even more enjoyable!
Platinum? Maybe next year :)

More GTA5. Nearing the end of the career now. Been so long since I played through on PS3, I’ve enjoyed it. The collectables can do one though!
Steelhead
Pre-ordered a Switch on a whim three days before release and I’m very pleased with it. Only played Fast Rmx so far, brilliant game and that’s coming from a guy who hasn’t touched a racing game since GT3 on PS2.
My copy of Breath of the Wild hasn’t arrived yet. That’s fine as it’s allowing me time to finish off Persona 4 Golden which I’ve been doing this week during all time off sick with a throat/ sinus infection. Woe is me.

Zelda, with occasional Fast RMX split screen during lunch break at the office.
Switch is amazingly brilliant.

Just a ton of Zelda. The game is an absolute masterpiece and I can’t put it down.
<3 my Switch.

Not a lot this week, was too busy and tired, mostly from spending my first couple of nights this week resurrecting my mobile. It is an oldtimer, over 5 years old, was seriously running out of storage after being on Cyanogenmod for almost 2 years. It is now running quite smoothly with Lineage Android 7.1.1., which I find rather amazing.
Then I fell asleep over checking PSN sale offerings, which means there’s not that much for me this time. But I watched a gameplay video of Oxenfree, and I was quite intrigued, will probably get it in the current sale. Only quickly nipped into FC4 campaign, and that was that.
