Something For The Weekend – 25/03/17

It’s been a week of highs and lows in the news, but let’s focus on what we have to be thankful for (and don’t forget it’s Mother’s Day tomorrow!)

Meanwhile, it’s also the start of the F1 season this weekend. I’ve even taken Friday and Monday off work so I can enjoy it and not miss out on too much sleep, with a tasty looking showdown between Mercedes and Ferrari at the front of the grid.

Meanwhile, in the world of gaming, this weekend sees the Splatoon 2 Testfire running on Nintendo Switch. If you’ve got Nintendo’s latest console, there’s just three more hour long windows of opportunity to try out the sequel to Nintendo’s latest franchise. Catch the times and details here, and don’t forget the clocks go forward this weekend.

Anyway, let’s start our review of this week on TSA…

In the News This Week

Games in Review

It was a super busy week for the reviews, especially when you consider it’s only March and usually a quiet time of year! To be fair, it’s largely been down to the launch of the Switch, even if that console had only a relatively small launch line up.

This Week’s Features

It was fairly quiet for the previews, as Stefan went back to “1996” for a look at STRAFE, which is getting a release later on this year in May. Meanwhile, Jake spoke to Sumo Digital about their upcoming game, Snake Pass, and how they transitioned into self publishing.

Jim began his Assassin’s Creed Collection, starting with figures of Altair and Ezio, which arrived alongside a detailed magazine covering everything to do with the series.

This week Jake opened up about a low point in his life, and how Life is Strange helped him get through his depression. On a lighter note, he also examined Horizon Zero Dawn, looking at what the game gets right, and what it doesn’t.

Lastly, What We Played featured Zelda, Snake Pass and Persona 5.

It looks like it was rather a quiet week for TSA’ers, but let’s see what they’ve been up to anyway.

Eldav0 finished the main quest in Zelda, only to be surprised that he’s only completed 14% of the game. Meanwhile Tony Cawley had a very busy week, completing Dragon Age Inquisition, platinuming Infamous First Light, and making a start on Final Fantasy XV.

Elsewhere, TSBonyman is getting stuck into the new Mass Effect, Steven’s cracking on with Dragon’s Dogma:Dark Arisen, and tactical20 explored New York in The Division for the first time after finding a good deal on it.

Finally, in preparation for Persona 4, Steelhead finished off Persona 4 Golden, getting the true ending in the process.

  1. I’m enjoying Mass Effect Andromeda but haven’t played much this weekend as F1 is back.
I’m wanting Hamilton to win this year’s Championship but I was happy to see a Ferrari victory which hopefully means it won’t be another one team dominance season, the more teams that can win races the better.
