Beyond Good & Evil 2 was this year’s main E3 surprise from Ubisoft, showing that a new addition to the franchise was incoming. However we only saw a CG trailer and it was confirmed that Beyond Good & Evil 2 would be a prequel to the original game, instead of a sequel that continued Jade’s story. There was also a little concern afterwards that development was apparently still in early stages too.
Michel Ancel has now sat down to show us some early gameplay footage of Beyond Good & Evil 2, which you can watch below. It shows traversal using the ship through Space and sky, as well as the monkey using a jetpack.

I didn’t love BGE when I first played it on PS2 so I don’t have much stakes in this sequel, but I can imagine that people who loved the game and waited for this for 10 years or so, would have wanted to continue Jade’s story. I can understand that it’s hard to do a sequel after so many years and not alienate a lot of the audience not familiar with the original, but in that case, maybe just lose the ‘2’ from the title? ;)
