It’s the first weekend of 2018 and the first Something for the Weekend roundup of the year as well. Gaming news come at us thick and fast, and it’s easy to miss out on some game announcement, the start of an open beta, or the latest game reviews. This will always the best place to catch up on the week that was.
Let’s get to it!

- Tiny Metal – PS4, Switch, PC – 6/10
- Dead Rising 4: Frank’s Big Package – PS4, XBO, PC – Original Review Score 6/10
- Roccat Khan Pro Headset – Hardware Review – No Score
Game of the Year 2017
While we took a break between Christmas and the end of the year, we still had plenty of Game of the Year categories to go through, leading up to the overall winner announced on 31st December and the Community Game of the Year winners on 1st January.

This Week’s Features
With 2017 done and dusted, we kicked off our Ones to Watch feature to look ahead to 2018. So far we’ve covered the biggest games coming out in January, a selection of Multiplayer Games, Games from Japan and five PlayStation 4 first party exclusives.
Aside from that, it’s been a relatively subdued week. Jake took a look at Yooka-Laylee on Nintendo Switch, finding a refined port that feels right at home on the console and is much improved over the original release. Meanwhile, Dave dove into VR for The Horus Heresy: Betrayal at Caith, for some tactical Warhammer 40K play on PC and HTC Vive.
As always, we rounded out the week with What We Played, where we played a bunch of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, amongst others.

Your Achievements
A special Christmas Life and New Years Times of TSA’s Community saw a bunch of festive gaming in the community:
- Steelhead let his Final Fantasy XIV sub run out, but got plenty of time in just before it did. In its stead, he played Super Mario 3D World with his wife and finished Steamworld Dig 2.
- There was a ton of FIFA 18, Star Wars Battlefront 2, NfS Payback and AC Origins for Crazy_Del, with the latter three resulting in platinum trophies.
- ron_mcphatty has been getting a “full massage” from Super Mario Odyssey’s 3D platformer therapy package.
- JR. nabbed the platinum trophies in Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2, ARK Survival Evolved and Telltale’s Guardians of the Galaxy.
- There was a mixture of Final Fantasy XV, AC Syndicate (two years late!), The Sexy Brutale and Papers, Please for gernboes.
- MrYd spent far too much in the Christmas and PS Store sales, but then had a cold. Still, he enjoyed “Assassin’s Creed Oranges”, the Crash Bandicoot remaster, GT Sport, and the weirdness of NieR: Automata.
- It’s been VR, VR and more VR for TSBonyman, from VR Worlds to Skyrim VR and the Apollo 11 VR experience.
- wonkey-willy finished off the Wolfenstein II campaign.
- Andrewww didn’t get any gaming done. Instead, he swanned off to the Alps for tons of familial skiing, ice skating, sledding and board games.
The Week Ahead
Is there anything of note out this week? I mean, it’s the middle of January, and so the release schedule is terribly quiet.
That’s all for this week, and hopefully we’ll see you again soon!
