PES undegoes a slight name change as Konami reveals eFootball PES 2020, out September

We were always expecting a new Pro Evolution Soccer title to land this year, but I don’t think any of us were expecting a name change to the iconic brand but here we are. Konami has revealed eFootball PES 2020 which will be releasing on September 10th for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The press release also confirms that Konami are partnered with FC Barcelona with Lionel Messi as the cover star on the standard edition of the game, while Ronaldinho will be the cover star of the Legend version.

According to the press release eFootball marks the start of a new decade and focus for PES as Konami looks to revolutionise the sport of eFootball and increase its reach across the world. The trailer above shows off some changes and additional skills players will have, along with some interviews with Ronaldinho, Messi, and Iniesta also appears. The gameplay itself looks decent and the last couple of games have shown that Konami have improved the system a lot on the virtual pitch, almost capturing the highs of the PS2 era where PES reigned supreme over FIFA.

One of the new modes being added to PES is Matchday where club fans compete against rivals each week with every point earned going towards victory for the fanbase. Master League gets an update too where a dialogue system allows players to control the player and manager story. You can choose to be managers such as Zico, Maradona, and Cruyff, Camp Nou will remain an exclusive stadium for PES and will be joined by Allianz Parque , El Monumental, Emirates Stadium, and Estadio Alberto J.Armando.
