Yesterday EA and Ghost Games confirmed the first details for Need For Speed Heat, the newest title to be entering the long running franchises line up. The game is set in Palm City and has two sides to it split by night and day. During the day your character is a semi-respectable racer who takes part in sponsored events to earn some cash, but at night that same character indulges in some illegal street racing to get better equipment for their vehicles. As well as other racers players will have to contend with the police, who are calm during the day but out to get you at night. If players are caught during the night portion the night ends and it’s back to the day portion of the game.
Need For Speed Heat will have a ton of customisation options and possibly due to that the speculation around loot boxes came up. After all they’re prevalent in other EA titles. However, Ghost Games took to Reddit and in response to some comments confirmed that loot boxes will not be in Need For Speed Heat. People did question what kind of microtransactions would be in the game, and Ghost Games responded with the following statement.
We plan to have post launch paid-DLC in the form of car packs. Later this year, we’ll introduce a time-save pack, that will show all collectables on the map.
Honestly, that’s it. No loot boxes and the above.
You can check out all of the details for Need For Speed Heat here including the cinematic trailer. A gameplay reveal for the game will be taking place on August 19th during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live. Need For Speed Heat will be available on November 8th for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Subscribers to Origin Access Premier will have access on November 5th, along with a first play trial going live on that same day too.
