3D Realms Vice President Frederik Schreiber has revealed that his team were working on a brand new four player co-op game set in the Aliens universe. The title, Aliens: Hadley’s Hope, was a “storyworld-driven PVE multiplayer adventure shooter,” in which players formed teams consisting of a “misfitting mix of colonists and marines” to fight against an Alien queen.
Not just one queen though, the planet the players are on is home to “numerous” queens and hives, all with unique settings, and there were plans to support the game with content for years after release. It sounds rather like an Alien version of Call of Duty’s zombie mode but unfortunately we will never see it.
Yup. Game was called Aliens: Hadleys Hope. We went quite far into pre-production before the Disney/Fox acquisition, and then we had to cancel it, and move on with something else.

The second game was to be produced by Cliff Bleszinski’s Boss Key Productions. In his game the events of the third movie do not happen and Newt is alive and is on Earth. Ripley would be in the game but as a ‘Cortana’ style guide, and there would also be a new android called Casey, named after Newt’s doll in Aliens. The game was to be a action orientated first person shooter.
Games based on the Aliens franchise have been patchy, for every Alien: Isolation there is an Aliens: Colonial Marines. Alien: Isolation was released on Switch just before Christmas, five years after it launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and last year also saw the launch of Alien: Blackout on mobile devices.
Unnamed “sources” have told Observer that and an R-rated animated series starring Amanda is in production at Axis Animation, a company that worked on Alien: Isolation for Sega. The seven episode series might be arriving soon, possibly this April, although the platform on which it will be shown is not know, Disney+ is does not have mature content.
Before the Fox/Disney merger FoxNext and Cold Iron were working on a new Aliens game. “I am a personal fan of Cold Iron’s previous work, and all of us at FoxNext Games are thrilled to be working with them as they create an action-packed persistent world, steeped in the mysteries of this beloved ‘Alien’ universe,” Aaron Loeb, FoxNext Games president of studios, said in announcing the deal.
The Cold Iron website is still showing Aliens imagery so it appears they are still working on the title. Recent Twitter posts show developers wearing Nostromo t shirts and what appears to a meeting rooms named after the Sulaco, further indications the game is still in production.
